  1. The bus driver accidentally didn't deploy the stop sign (allegedly). I think losing her job would be punishment enough, criminal charges is over the top. She wasn't behind the wheel of the vehicle that killed the kid and likely had no ill intentions. Why isn't that person who hit the kid being charged with reckless driving? It's common sense to drive carefully when you see a school bus. That person was more negligent than the bus driver!

  2. It was not the bus driver’s fault, and she shouldn’t be charged. Why not charge the driver of the car who actually killed the child. Why not charge the mother for not picking up her son or send an alternate? The mom is looking for a payday.

  3. R.I.P, Zier! ( Sorry if I misspelled his name)
My heart goes out to his, Mother & his family…this is so tragic & just heartbreaking. I hope he felt no pain.
God forbid, but if I were to ever hit & kill anyone much more a child; I wouldn't be able to go on…the weight of that type of situation is so heavy…
I pray his Mother, Father & family can come to peace & find ways to live on through the beauty he brought to the world.

  4. Stop sign or not, the law says that you must stop for a stopped school bus. The stop sign is only an extra precaution to remind people of what the law says they must do.

  5. $21/hour is not worth it. Make a mistake, and you end up on the news, facing charges. No wonder there is a school bus driver shortage. The wage for school bus driver should be double that for a sane person to take on all that responsibility.

  6. Drivers really need to slow the fuck down. I see it all day long at drop off and pick up parents just zooming around the kids without regard. Yes the driver should have done what was right but you are not that much in a rush you cannot slow down and look and make sure you aren’t running over a child.

  7. In Wisconsin you don’t have to run your 8 ways or stop sign (REDS) now that’s bullyshit… I drive a school bus for a school yes it’s our responsibility to turn on the lights and watch for cars but we cannot control the dumbasses that drive cars….

  8. This wasn’t even a small child. He was 13 so it wasn’t like the driver couldn’t see him, there’s no reason for her to get off free for killing this child because there was no reason to even be speeding past a school bus stop sign or not

  9. Something seems off about this case. If red flashing are activated by the the operation of the bus door, that would mean the stop lights were turned on unless there was a malfunction in the mechanism. The more likely it scenario, the other driver did not see the flashing red lights because she was inattentive and was mistaken of her claim…or worse case, she flat out lied.

The amount of responsibility put on an elderly woman making less that 35k, come on… you love your child so much you arrange for someone to be there to walk your child from the bus everyday… get your ass up and get your child. Drivers need to slow down when they see a bus stopped. If this was my 65 year old grandma I’d be on the news going off. She didn’t want that baby to die, but they jailing her like a hard criminal.

  12. I love extremely close to here and bus drivers don’t walk kids home, special needs or not. We don’t let small or vulnerable children even off of the bus unless there is an adult guardian at the doors to meet them

  13. A regular bus doesn’t have a Stop Sign, so if the same thing happened with a regular bus would the bus driver be at fault or the driver who actually hit the person? Same rules apply to a school bus whether or not the sign is out…proceed with caution.

  15. Why the lady who hit the child isn't being held responsible/ arrested aswell??. If the bus driver was a white man or woman they would've never been arrested. They are always trying to make an example out of black folks. Staywoke with this system!!

  16. School bus drivers must display the stop arm and show flashing lights when dropping off children, and traffic MUST stop when the stop arm is displaying and the lights are flashing.

  17. The driver is more at fault than anything. I always slow down around busses and look out for kids. The driver didn't have common sense. Bus driver shouldn't be getting all the blame.
