Scariest Explosion Adam Savage Ever Witnessed

What’s the scariest explosion Adam Savage witnessed during filming? Would Adam change how firearms were portrayed if he were filming MythBusters today? Also: Would he fly on a U2 spy plane again, and what song would Adam choose as the opening theme of MythBusters? 1. My dad was a welder long time ago, he told me a story about him and a colleague. They were welding panels on the side of a silo, it was a tricky job and not very safe. During this job my dad saw the silo bulge a bit and a second later a panel that his colleague was standing in front of blew of the silo and knocked the wind out of the guy. They forgot about the dust particles in the silo…luckily they could both walk away from it.

  2. 4:50 This gun deaths statement isn't true. It is an inaccurate or intentionally misleading talking point, taken from a CDC study that excluded infants under 1 year old while also including 18 & 19-year-olds as "children". When you remove the adults from those data, the total number of gun deaths drops below vehicles and suffocation. When you add in infants, the "gun deaths" drop even further down the list.

It is also misleading to blanket statement "gun deaths", because the study combined homicide, accidental death, suicide, AND justifiable homicide in self-defense to form their "gun deaths" total number.

  3. That's a very old mentality that's based around the thing that causes it rather than the person and their mental state and that kind of thing cuz a lot of that is based in the health of the individual not necessarily the weapon itself or the ease of whatever access unless they're literally stupid and don't understand anything about life but you know as I know that that's usually not why but to be honest I don't really like them from this issue so I get it

  4. After the Spanish civil war, Franco's regime had a very close control of flour mills. If you had cereal to mill, it had to be milled in one of the allowed mills, and pay a fee for it. Many of the traditional mills went out of business, but some of them went literally underground. You can guess what was the outcome with flour on the air, but you know, don't mess with people's soruce of food.

  5. I recall the concrete mixer truck explosion and that seemed like another whole level than anything else the show did. Though maybe not "scary" in the sense that they know it was coming.

  6. hearing him say "we did some experiments with liquid O2" so nonchalantly as like just someone who watches chemisry channels. O2 is so fucking Crazy dangerous bc just how reactive oxygen is, and its liquid which makes it more reactive. in fact most made at home terror bombs are made with oxidizers, which are chemicals that are properly named. they are molecules with a fuckload of oxygen compared to the rest of the molecule. Hydrogen peroxide is a oxidizer and the reason its not blowing up randomly in ur medicine cabneits is bc the law doesnt allow it to be concentrated past like 7% for home use, and in EU u cant purchase 15% or more without a permit or something. oxygen is just a really fucking dangerous element that we just need to function. in general, Stay away from things that are 50% oxygen, its probably extremely volatile

  8. Umm….Howard Jones was indeed awesome, but….
Thomas Dolby wrote, performed and sang
"Blinded Me With Science" and deserves the credit for it.
Howard Jones was great but please don't steal Mr.Dolby's thunder.😅✌

  9. Speaking of explosions on Mythbusters – The explosion that surprised me the most, and by that, I mean I had no idea it would be quite so radical, is the water heater explosion. This had nothing to do with a natural gas explosion. This was just what happens when a water heater (electric) under pressure and extreme temperature finally gives way and explodes.

Seriously, I thought a seam would burst, and scalding hot water would shoot out the split until the pressure equalized. I had no idea the water heater would zoom past the ISS into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but that heater took off, quite literally, like a solid-fuel rocket. It was there, and then gone. It took out the floor above, and the roof, and kept on going like a hot knife through butter. I was counting the seconds it was aloft and wondered if the thing was ever going to come down. My recollection is that the swivel on the camera mount hit its limit and we never did see the apogee of the heater.

Yes, the cement mixer in the quarry was bigger but I kind of expected it to be so. But, a water heater? Seriously?

For me, this was the most unexpected result/explosion I ever witnessed on Mythbusters.

  10. The media has hyped school shootings, they are easy targets as gun free zones… remember the myth shooting fish in a barrel. Firearms are an essential part of American history and liberty. Anti-gunners use tragedy to excuse gains in power for tyrannical government. The change in society wasnt popularizing guns made them more dangerous, it was removing them from the culture of education and their importance, on top of the lack of respect for life. Guns arent the issue. Its the mentality of people and those in power that have pushed the country in a direction where they can create harm to exploit it for money and power.

  11. The take on guns here is utter ridiculous nonsense. First of all the statistic that "guns are the leading cause of death for children" is based on a completely flawed analysis specifically done to be able to make that claimed statement. The ages included in that analysis are 1-19 years old. Which now pulls into the study all the gang related homicides, as well as suicides into the overall count. Particularly interesting they call that a analysis of child deaths, meanwhile they're including adults 18-19. The claim makes it sound like school shootings or adults shooting children is the cause of the increased firearm deaths. Classic lefty word play, and twisting of the facts/truth, to either fit a narrative, or create a talking point. Not to mention that the largest amount of the firearm deaths they're talking about come from completely Democrat run states and cities with some of the harshest gun control measures. Same goes for school shootings, the majority, if not all, occur in "gun free zones", in blue areas. I wonder why that is…

  12. Seems like Adam drank the koolaid. Guns are not the leading cause of death of children, unless you classify 18-21 year old inner city gang members as children which I’m sure someone as intelligent as Adam does not.

  13. I used to live in a lumber mill oriented town and the local plywood factory had a sawdust fire rip from one end of a hundreds of feet long building to the other. Weirdly no one was seriously injured.

  14. 4:50 Correction for the stat cited here: This is ONLY true if you include 18 and 19 year olds as "children" (sometimes these stats will even include 19 and even 20 year olds!). This stat is clearly skewed by gang violence. If you don't include that, leading cause of death among children goes to car wrecks and then various medical conditions.
