Savinelli Dolomiti 114 Rustic 9mm + 1st impression on Sutliff Maple Shadows II

Firstly, I must thank Steven Brown who is a subscriber for his generosity giving me this excellent blend to enjoy. Thank you 🙏 About the pipe, I am so pleased with my 9mm Savinelli St Nicolas 606 that I decided to buy another gorgeous Savinelli 9mm, the Dolomiti 114 Rustic which is an elegant & classic designed straight billiard with a beautiful stem that matches the briar rustication perfectly.
As for the Maple Shadows ii, already after my very first bowl that I smoked in today’s video I can tell you it is most excellent Fire Cured Kentucky based blend. Smooth, well-balanced, complexed & rich with the various natural tobacco flavours. Most recommended.

As the chilling winds of autumn draw eerie prattle from contorted, deciduous limbs, we find ourselves possessed by the spirit of the season. Bewitched by a dissonant charm, we’ve created Maple Shadows. In a season that is defined by the unlikely harmony of treats and frights, we’ve joined the enchanting sweetness of maple with the earthy spice of Dark Fired Kentucky for a smoking experience that captures the senses with an otherworldly fusion of flavor.

  4. Hi Nathan, great video. I too have been enjoying a bit of this same blend. I managed to jar the majority of it but I treated myself to 2 oz. of it and it is good.

Similar to your pipe I opted to smoke this blend on my Savinelli Roma 127.

The aroma of maple is pleasant but not overwhelming when lit. The pleasantly light smokiness and a hint of something spicy, grassy and occasionally the cigar leaf smokiness mixes all very well. Somewhere halfway through the bowl the sweet maple disappears and the different tobacco leafs come forward.

Although I am enjoying these few bowls, with cellaring time this blend will be a joy to smoke next year.

I hope everyone is having a pleasant week, feliz humos!

    Best,

    Charlie

  5. Such a cool looking tin. As you say, our tins here are awful, big silly warning, altered names to make them sound less attractive. Although it usually ends up in a mason jar in a drawer to be fair, but still, it would be nice to have what the yanks have over there!
Lovely new pipe as well, think I fancy a straight billiard next, but probably the sav 106, with the smaller bowl. Good to watch your videos as usual, thanks!
