  1. Great Info & Video! Enjoy all your videos! The 779 at HomeDepot has the rear aluminum handle, the slide lock and the angle sliding stops like the 780. Only difference appears to be the XPS light & Switch. That's available in simple to install kit using 780 parts.

  2. I must have gotten lucky with my 779. It has all the features of the 780, except for the high fence and the light. I bought it maybe 5 years ago? I forget exactly when. It was one of very few tools i bought without a lot of research, or i probably would have purchased the 780 instead. At the time, i was just thrilled to be upgrading to a 12" saw that tilted both ways.

  3. I disagree with you. I bought the 779 and added an after market light for the cut line. It was simple and easy to install and it is dead on accurate. Thanks for show casing the differences.

  5. I started off with the 780! I bought the 779 thinking it was the same! Needless to say the 779 has set in storage because the light in the 780 is essential for me now doing trim work. My 780 just got stolen and I’m fighting not going to buy a new one!

  6. You miss the main advantage and it stronger and longer lasting internals… thats the main difference…. a $70 light, metal knob and a few metal bits can't justify a 300$ extra
It way easy to operate without the light casted line.. and iflight is need for visual purpose just getaswung arm light..
If your not going to usethe saw heavily and frequently the dws779 is way more than sufficient.

  7. I purchased the 779 about 8 years ago and other than the light it has all of the features of the 780 that you said don’t come on the 779 🤷🏻‍♂️

  8. SO WHY DID YOU NOT tell us where to get the high fence? I know that wasn't supposed to be part of this video, but that high fence is a "must have" for me. Where did the high fence come from?

  9. Completely wrong about installing the XPS light yourself. I found it on-line for less than $100. It came with clear, simple instructions and took about 10 minutes to install. It's literally fool-proof and worth every penny.

  10. For the extra money, I would expect a laser line. For the money, a couple stops and a light aren't worth it. I use one without those every day and it's never been an issue

  11. There is a light kit specifically made for the 779 and you don’t have to splice wires. In this case it appears that the light kit is worth it. Perhaps because this video is a year old and this premade kit wasn’t available is why he says the light kit isn’t worth it because perhaps back then it was a lot more work splicing wires. But, IMO the light is the biggest difference between the 779 and the 780. It isn’t worth it to me to spend an extra $200 just for the light kit to be pre installed in the 780. Save your money and get the 779 and install the light kit, especially if you’re a DIYer.
