Sailing My New 31ft Boat to an Island for the First Time and Getting a Mooring! | Captain Christa |

Today I am taking you guys sailing on my 31ft sailboat all the way to an Island! We got rained on, stopped for fuel, and had great wind for about half the trip! It is my first time sailing this boat to Catalina Island! I build a rocker stopper along the way which will help the boat be less rocky at night! My pups will also be joining me for this sail as well as a camera man. I will be showing you guys the complete sail over, which we averaged 4 knots while we were under sail power. We also grabbed some ballon’s on the way and we saw a huge oil tanker! Once we get to Catalina we chat with the harbor patrol and grab a mooring for the evening! I’ll also be showing you guys how I get the mooring on the boat and how it holds the boat in place! It was a beautiful day after 9 hours of sailing we finally made it to Catalina! Thankfully everything went as planned for this trip! Thanks so much for watching, I hope to see you join in on the fun by hitting that subscribe button! In the next video I’m going to be anchoring my boat in Catalina, catching some fish, and snorkeling! It’s going to be awesome! If you made it to the bottom of the description, please leave me a comment and let me know because I will respond to you!

  1. Try dropping and securing your lazy jacks right before you hoist the main. that way they wont snag on your battens and risk damaging your main sail. I sailed down from seattle and have been running back and forth between long beach and cat harbor. if you see a Baba 40 named Decatur that's me.

  2. My first time seeing your channel and I'm duly impressed with your seamanship knowledge and prowess working your boat solo.. It's a lot to do and you have the muscles and brains to get er done… and you seem to truly love sailing as I have all my life here off the New England coaat on schooners and sloops.. My dad in the Navy .. Can't wait to see how the Rock Stoppers worked. All my years sailing here and there …never heard of Rock Stoppers.. Cool.idea !!

  3. How do you know when the sail is at its proper tension on the wind & I noticed some sort of small medical device attached to your body! What is that medical device? Your channel is fun to watch since I live close & walk the harbor every day!

  4. Perhaps you should talk during your journey, instead of scripted exposures during your trip? That would be real and longer and probably contribute to your YouTube audience. Not a hater, much love ❤️

Ps. Thank you for cleaning up the ocean. Every little helps 👸

  5. Good to see you out there sailing. One suggestion, I strongly recommend that you get the boat ready to sail before you leave the dock. Boom cover removed, halyards connected, and anchor ready to deploy. Engines die, things happen, and luck favors the prepared. Great video, thanks.

  6. Lovely, brave and adventurous young lady! I'd worry less about you single-handing knowing you were clipped in and wearing a safety vest while underway. Things happen out there, even on calm days. Fair winds and stay safe, dear one! All our love from SV Mermaid, Morro Bay. <3 <3 <3

  8. I was on a friends fishing boat in Key Largo Fl and watching the container ships go by and they are HUGE. He says like you that they have the right of way and never try to cross in front but also to cut them a wide berth when passing behind as they sometimes are dragging cables from buoys they hit that could snag you and drag you with them.

  9. I’m really glad your video popped up, I’ve really enjoyed the video and your “Crew”! And I do believe that’s the very first time I’ve ever seen ANY Beef on any sailing videos….Soooooo…….I’ve subscribed! I think I’m also impressed that there’s not a guy taking full credit for everything you do ….
