Morally- the moral center of the US is where Russia (the former Soviet Union) was (existentially) three and four decades ago- and brought its downfall. Our descent is as sure as theirs. And, sadly, an entire generation will need to pass before we will see the overthrow and upward rise of anything positive.

Protection of environment, improvement of climate conditions, equality of sexuality, animal rights and all such things, when they are ignored and not taken seriously can create communities, actions and thinking that is more fanatic than they would actually be, hence delivering a base for lobbies of all kind to abuse and instrumentalize such movements for their own goals. Therefore i find it important to take people concerns seriously and at least try to understand what their believes are, communicate with people so that there is some resilience and community within a society.
Political discourse must necessarily consider the scientific analysis that we humans, as extensions of complex matter governed by mathematical rules , must also have our human political behavior compelled by these same mathematical principles ;(not unlike what Peterson is trying to say with psychology but doesn't have a credible science). Humans are not binary, we are quantum , that is both, and Putin represents this rationality as opposed by the irrational polarized binary West. Nature always seeks harmony . Therefore new systems will emerge from this present periodic doubling of the chaotic world order. So it is correct to assume that it's highly likely a new political order of peace and harmony will arise, one that is Pan European embracing Asia.

There are endless variations here on the classic joke about how short the summer is, like "oh, you blinked at the wrong time, you missed summer!". The problem is that it's not nearly as much of a joke as it might be further south.
Even with climate getting considerably and noticeably warmer, i still live in a place where it's normal to have weeks or months of below -10C and often weeks of closer to -20C in winter. Not to mention literally METERS of snowcover.
And having the occasional day with closer to -30C isn't unheard of, just much less common today than it was 40 years ago.
It's one part of why public and communal institutions are strong here, you simply do not survive longterm on your own.
