  1. The Russian people are the only ones that can stop this madness with the least amount of damage to humanity it doesn't matter that some indidual from there is against the war they as a collective are responsible for the bloodshed of innocent people.

Sanctions against the elite of Russia or putin (lowecase) himself are not what will stop the war. The sanctions need to affect the whole nation for them to have any effect at all. The best case scenario is that economic downfall of the individuals will make them rise against the goverment and by proxy their own ideas of what part Russia takes in the world.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not blaming some specific Russian individuals for all of this… It's them all together – COLLECTIVELY.

Like in marrige – through the good and bad. They can't be with the goverment when It's beneficial to them and when the sh*t hits the fan "no no no, im not for the war, im not responsible, im anti war (but won't actually do anything against that)".

Also I have my utmost respect to those in Ukraine defending their homes and to the Russians that we're brave enough to go protest in the streets.

    Слава Україні!

  2. A sanction always hits the whole country and it is a signal to people to act.
For example, I'm half russian half german living in Germany. I know that all my family in russia and basically everyone they know are against the war. Everyone is afraid to go out and demonstrate against the war because you will be put in jail for a month once you demonstrate against the government.
Germany now decided to put more money into our military and that move is mostly supported by the people although we know that in the end we have to pay more taxes to make up for it.
In russia on the contrary since most people are against the war this sanction actually makes the people go out to demonstrate against the government. If 100k people start to go on the street to demonstrate against the war, there will be no man power nor will there be enough jail space to stop them from demonstrating.

Fyi. This sanction actually made my family members organize and they plan to go out on the streets this evening. They said they are expecting up to 1000 people on the street, which isn't that much but Сыктывкар is also not a really big city.

  3. They sanction individual people to put strain on the entire country….Cause the citizens to put heat on Putin to end it. If they didnt put sanctions on public the leaders would still get all the funds needed

  4. Its funny how everyone is on the side of ukraine as if they where saints while it is one of the most corrupt places on this earth (remember hunter biden?). The nato east expansion should have never happened and the constant military operations at the russian border get ignored. Days before the russian intervention the ukrainian military attacked russian border posts and then they cry "why you do this to us were are just nice people". Play stupid games, win stupid prices. Another way of saying it would be don't poke the bear!
Liberals are just NPCs that just regurgitate anything they hear on the MSM.

  5. sorry but bad take. while fearmongering and tarnishing a whole people with the same brush happened in the US because of the huge propaganda push against the middle east after 9/11, this is not the same thing.

the sanctions are not and weren't aimed at the general populace, but corporations have to actually act upon these sanctions and apply them, else they are liable for huge fines and potentially criminal charges.
If a corp has poor or time-consuming/costly ways of determining who is just a normal Russian content creator and who may be actually affiliated with the Russian administration creating content on their behalf, then they will go the easy route of instead blanket-banning the whole country. What happened here is it's easier (and legally safer from the corp's PoV) to just shut down access to these payment methods for all Russian users rather than sift through which transactions to allow/reject etc.

  6. I'm glad he's talking about it. I'm glad he didn't just give a canned answer to protect his brand. Having said that though, a lot of this video felt like damage control.

  7. This sanctions on Russa will do nearly nothing other than fcking up EUs economy. Russia has insane reservers and can alone from that survive for atleast 1 year and than the fact that russia is self sufficent. SWIFT ban is funny, this will be a huge trouble for our companys here in germany and russia will just go to China and join CIPS and trade with them instead. Basically preparing the next conflict with this sanctions because Russia will probably never care again about the west and strengthen their ties with asia and especially china.

  8. I mean russian people can still unite and overthrow the government. But they don't have the balls to do it so they suffer the consequences.. No one will invade russia to fix the government because nukes will come flying.. So they got to live with it until putin dies from old age or something else..

  9. Bad take. You don't just keep doing business if you're at war with someone. Even if it's an irrelevant business you still don't funnel money to an enemy. Even civilians help fund governments indirectly and you better believe if a government needed money they would just start to syphon anyone getting foreign money.

  10. I have no real issue with russian people and these sanctions are right now the only weapon the west can fight with against Russia without causing WW3…Putin declared that any intervention from the west with military will have terrible consequences…so its a fight that makes Russia bleed out economically, which unfortunatelly affects citizens as well but it will also (or at least I hope) make Putin think twice as hard now about if he will continue this war, because how can your country work if you spend everything on a war and will have no money for the future…he hoped for swift attack that Ukraine wont be able to defend but it seems he miscalculated on that…the longer the war will continue, the harder will be the sanctions and people will be unhappy in Russia, companies closing and losing money, losing every bit of international trade, people making demonstrations in hope that Putin will stop this because its his people that will suffer from this the most in the long run…lets hope he realizes that…just like any weapon, it will cause harm to the civilians, its true its a bad thing but effective and right now the only option we have in EU to fight back

  11. The funniest thing I think about this whole situation is that people forgot that Ukraine's government are corrupt pieces of shit too. Ethnically Russian people have been harassed in many of these former Soviet countries to the point of treating these Russians as second class citizens. This is why Putin is accusing Ukraine of Nazism like behavior and news media is freaking out about it the rhetoric and trying to turn it around with their own brand of , " No, you!".
All of this seems like bad decision making by leaders that should have been addressed years ago.

  12. The sanctions to everyday folk will either breed resentment to the west or towards Putin for starting the war, the Russian people are not stupid they know what is going on, those that fell for the propaganda that Ukraine WANTS to be liberated are slowly realising that that is not the case.

  13. Russian people have the right to elect an another president. Also, the propaganda machine in russia is so strong that without things like banning onlyfans and such many russian people would stay completely in the dark about the fact that their country attacked another country for no reason. Theres so many people who still think that they are fighting drug addict nazis in a special operation.

  14. "Good intentions, bad take" sums it up.
The sanctions were meant to affect banking transactions, The platforms decided to freeze the accounts because banking is being affected and no one knows for how long. So this is so people wont sub/give money to an account that effectively cannot withdraw said money.
It's actually a protective measure for the users. And all sympathy for the creators, they for sure got the short end of the stick, but this is not meant as a way to hurt them.

In the end of the day, as all things war related, the civillians end up paying the price and it really sucks.
I hope the creators are able to find a solution for this.

  15. Bros you should understand that the government is people's choice. It's their own problems. If the don't want anything of these to happen they should take down their head of their country and his dogs.
There is a war happening right now. The sanctions is a result of administration that russian country does. That's the right way to punish people who support their leader for crimes he is making right now.
There s no talk about it.

  16. As Venezuelan, Admón have total right, U.S have sanction Venezuela over the goverment and individual personas tied to the goverment, US Venezuelan people arent sanction, and we can uses Bank, company can used banks as well, export and import without any problem.

U.S know how to do it, and have done it in the past.

  17. The people who support this are frankly stupid, and I don't mean sanctions that specifically affect payment processors, but rather the freezing and deactivation of accounts from Russian civilians. First of all, Putin doesn't care about, or even like that his citizens are using platforms like Twitch and OF. He is openly and outspokenly against OF and social media, for instance. So by banning these creators and disrupting their income, you're both hurting an innocent bystander who has nothing to do with the war and helping Putin.

Second… even if it were true that such restrictions can help turn the people against Putin's war… the majority of Russians were already against it. Ukrainians are literally their neighbors: they have friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, and family in Ukraine. Many of them literally work in Ukraine and vice versa. Third, and perhaps most importantly… Russia is a dictatorship. If the people were to turn against Putin and protest the war, it could potentially lead to a massacre or at the very least innocent people in prison. He would simply not tolerate dissent and would quickly snuff it out.

I fully, 100% agree with Asmongold here. This is a dangerous road, and not one I believe we should be going down.
