Russell DEMANDING Changes from the FIA!

The Italian Grand Prix at Monza is one of those historic races that you think could never leave the sport. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its problems and one particular one was on show regularly at last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. George Russell was quick to highlight it after the race but do Monza’s problems go far further than track changes? Can the race survive past 2025? Let’s check it out.

  1. It's funny and becomming more rediculous every single time.
Drivers blaming the circuit while it's them not being able to drive.
These are supposed to be the best drivers in the world and they can't even stay on track.
I'm sorry i'm not buying it anymore especially from the mercedes children.
My adivce to drivers is to never ever drive for mercedes unless you want to turn into a 4 year old child.

  2. George needs to realise that F1 is not about the divers. Its about the cars and increasingly the SHOW and celebs! George mouths off a lot, if he had the best car would he beat Max. I dont think so. Stop yapping George and drive to survive or give someone else a go.

  3. Get rid of the run off at the end of turn one, make it a gravel trap, that will stop them trying to take the free pass.

Also this is where drs just isn't effective, of one can't pass another without it there needs to be a change for the better.

  4. The problem is the cars change , the Tracks do not , at lest as fast as the cars do , they should try to adapt the tracks at an almost same pace , look at the difference between the cars from 20 years ago till now there twice the size , how much has the track changed in those same 20 years as the cars have 🤔

  5. Controversial opinion: Italy doesn't need 2 races.
Just because one of the teams that have been in the sport for a really really long time, doesn't justify the need for one country to have 2 races.
You don't see 2 races in the UK either. And many teams are based out of there.

And yes, that also means that the US in no way needs 3 races. BUT given the size of the US, it makes more sense.

  6. 5 second penalties are not enough. Lewis crashes into a competitor and receives a 5 second penalty, others cutting the chicane receiving a 5 second penalty – just not enough with finishing gaps of 10 or more seconds. These infringements need to be punished with 10 maybe 15 seconds all served in the pits and not after the race!

  7. First off I got to say who is George Russell to think that the FiA has to bow down to Mercedes-Benz or George Russell. Just because Toto Wolf is a big crybaby because he’s not winning anymore. Doesn’t mean that the FiA has to change all their rules and cater to Mercedes. I think Mercedes just needs to realize that the other teams Red Bull is beating them and it’s better than them and Mercedes just needs to deal with it that they’re not number one anymore and that’s it. And George Russell needs to just shut his mouth and race his car better that’s it and have a team that is better.

  8. Mercedes Toto, Lulu and Gorgie – so toxic. All they do is whinge they forget the domination they. Such bad sportsmanship from all three. Lulu should’ve have a got a stop and go for taking out Oscar. Same with Georgie. Total bullshit

  9. Monza should take a leaf out of Silverstone's book. The cars have out-grown the first two chicanes, it's next to impossible to run two modern F1 cars side by side through them. As iconic a layout as Monza is, it's no different to Silverstone and the BRDC made changes to layout and infrastructure which made for a better race circuit, overall. Every time two cars arrive at those corners together we know pretty much what is going to happen, and so do the drivers. The BRDC took the most problematic areas of the old Silverstone track (Abbey & Priory) and made a better layout with minimal expansion/clearing whilst replicating the character/legacy of the good corner that was in between them (Bridge into the new Abbey T1). Monza could cement itself into F1's future with a bold re-design from the Rettifilio to Lesmo 1 whilst hopefully retaining the character of Curva Grande.

  10. Retefillo chicane, with the higher speeds of all classes, it really needs reprofiling. It needs to change from 2 90degree corners and pinch in track with. Better would be to eradicate its apex, and the run off track, reprofiled to the new corner apex, with a gentler 1st corner and a tightening radius in the 2nd.
Tacks like Monza, spa, Silverstone being historic and honestly better than most flyaway circuits have to stay to keep f1 exciting (plus they have the biggest weekend attendances on the calender)
