  1. Thank you for featuring our project, Philip! Honestly didn't even get far enough in the game with RTX to see that building collapse section, so it's awesome that you found that. You mention stealth in the game not effected by the lighting, but we're hoping to change that in the future. Dark Messiah is all about adapting, so we will want to have the stealth mechanic be more closely linked to RTX's lighting, allowing players to solve some problems in their own way. Though, this does take some reverse engineering to program in, so that'd be further down the line. Still need to figure out how the color correction filtering back in, and reimplement the Dark Vision spell!

To address something here, I see a lot of comments / feedback, and as negative or rude as some may be, seeing what people have issues with is exactly what we're looking for, because we've been building this for Dark Messiah community as a whole, old or new.

This entire work is being done by a single guy, and iterations come based on priority, so this helps us see what works and what doesn't. Some of the assets in this video are a little outdated, but people mention some great criticism on POM usage and especially detail usage, so we'll be doing another pass on those textures to make sure we've satisfied that. We have another video cooking up with the updated assets including some character designs, so here's hoping we're taking steps forward and see some improvement. That being said, we often poll the Dark Messiah community for feedback, so if you want to be involved in the process, speak up! We are here because we love the game first, so let's share some love!

  2. The biggest issue with Ray tracing, is it's real life simulation, I hear you saying "but that means all stuff like water and object and darkness is all handled by one system" and I counter that with well sometimes you want something to be a certain way, but often that is unrealistic and impossible in real life, what do you do then , and even it if it's possible it's often quite hard to replicate the effect so you end up spending Loads of time adjusting loads of variables trying to get it right, it's great for something you want to look like real life but if you want to make it more gamey it's going to make it extra effort.

  3. If im honest here this is a science of – pardon the expression – "polishing turds" – And to be honest its not working, it looks awful, "fake" for the most part (and it is) and so for me anyway I prefer to stick to the OG game as ugly as it may look today. I think it will always look better than this soup which ends up looking worse imho.

  4. I have to say the new textures in Dark Messiah looks absolutely horrid. I’m not sure exactly how to explain it but the stone bricks do not really look like stone but something else with fibrers or grain, idk.

  5. While this effect is really cool I feel like it takes away from the intention of the creators.
I think it depends on the game but some older games have fantastic atmosphere that can't easily be reproduced after a remaster.

But still, I really don't mind people doing it. It's fun to see new graphics be put into older games.

  6. The technology is amazing but all the textures have the same vibe to me as 4K-Ultra-Realistic Minecraft texture packs. Each individual element looks good but the overall look is worse than the original.

  7. Nearly Spat out my Coffee when you showed the "Enhanced" Textures and It looked ten times worse. Goes to show why enviroment Artist is an actual profession and cant be recreated by Nvidia pushing cheap AI slop. I would have expected a way more critical lense from you. Dissapointing really.
