RPCS3 – Two Years of Major PS3 Emulation Improvements!

It’s certainly been awhile since our last Major Improvements video, in this new showcase we go over some of the more notable changes to RPCS3 over the last two years. However we cannot cover everything and many other notable features such as savestates, or a myriad of games that became playable were not shown. We hope that by showing the date each game improved we can re-assure our audience that despite no videos being released our developers have continued to deliver consistent updates to RPCS3.

This video was mainly delayed due to our video editor being busy, and stepping down from producing future videos. We hope to have new members of our community helping produce future videos without as much of a delay, however we cannot make any promises. Please follow the update changelog within RPCS3’s updater, and/or our GitHub and Twitter pages for more frequent updates.

As always, ensure you check out our compatibility list https://rpcs3.net/compatibility to see if the game you want to play is listed as Playable, and click on the name of the game to be taken to our Wiki page where we list any required settings.

  1. Improvements are real, but many games people actually want to play from PS3 library are still bad with a lot of issues, and even if it's almost perfect you still need a CPU that will cost you more than the actual PS3 with those games, probably even more than aftermarket PS5 with remastered versions of those games, so… Yeah, still a long way to go. I was more impressed with PS2 software mode emulation improvements over last 5 years after I gave up on it somewhere in late 2010s.

  2. It's really nice to see how far RPCS3 has come but I am really looking forward to running games like god of war 3, god of war ascension and uncharted 1-3 (in terms of stability and performance) hopefully that time ain't too far either.

  3. as much as i love the idea of this emulator and appreciate the effort put into this, a few months back when i tried it, it still had pretty bad performance issues. I dont have a beefcake of a PC but i can run most new games without much of an issue. I tried GOW3 and it was absolutely terrible. Tried all kinds of settings, nothing worked. Either way, i wish good luck for the devs.

  4. See, if a company like Nintendo can break ethics and successfully sue Yuzu and Cemu into submission or declare emulation unlawful, I don't have high hopes for the future of the good people who run this project. Not even if you don't ask for donations or don't ask for payment for premium features just to get bread and milk on the table.

If emulation can be declared unlawful, there's no limit to how badly people's rights can be trampled on.

This all being said, I wish you the best of luck and much progress on this. Hopefully Sony will be saner than Nintendo.
