I have played for a few hours, beaten Dungeon 1 and two daily challenges. So I'm not really an expert but I would say from my experience – go with Mechanoid, so far he seems the best character. Also – avoid fights as much as you can but do trigger traps for the EXP points. I especially like to trigger traps in Fire and Void areas.
