Richard Marles ‘doesn't really care about AUKUS’: Cameron Milner

GXO Strategies Director Cameron Milner has accused Defence Minister Richard Marles of not really caring about the AUKUS deal.

Mr Milner’s remarks come after the Biden administration said it will buy just one fast-attack nuclear submarine in 2025, rather than two.

Meaning it will be behind schedule in building up its own fleet by the time we’re supposed to buy our first submarine in eight years from now.

“I mean Richard Marles will be running state tours in Shanghai by the time we have our first nuclear submarine from the US,” Mr Milner told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“He doesn’t really care about AUKUS.

“He mouths the words but doesn’t deliver.

“That’s what I’m really worried about, we need this deal, Australia needs this deal for our defence against China, but I’m worried that Albanese’s ministers aren’t convinced as the rest of Australia is.”

  2. I think Australian government and the ADF may have shot themselves in the foot with AUKUS. They should had just gotten the french nuclear powerd submarines varent and changed the ractors every 10 years and built a gap submarine of son off Collins in-between. Theirs a good chance of Trump cancelling the deal over shortages if he gets in. Australia will need a plan C very quickly. The only other varent would be the french nuclear powerd subs thats if they haven't already closed the door on Australia.
