  1. For deep film fans, the bulk of the choreography for the bazaar fight was lifted straight out of the 1942 Road to Morocco with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope (Except Bob Hope didn't waste any swordsmen with a pistol because he had dysentery. That was pure Indy).

  2. When you see the male student leaving the apple for Professor Jones, I never thought anything of it until I realized it was a subtle but funny Gay joke. Its like all the students that are in his class are just there because they are in love with him.

  4. I remember seeing Hot Fuzz and Belloq showed up! As a priest! Also, I love this series, and I rewatch them all at least once a year.

Last thing, congrats and good luck with the new/old venture.

  5. I was born in 1980 and I had seen Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade before even knowing Raiders of the Lost Ark was an Indiana Jones movie, I always wondered where the famous Boulder scene came from, I either thought it was just for the previews or Indiana Jones came from another film franchise and was getting his own movie, then in 1991, McDonalds was doing a promotion where they was selling the Indiana Jones movies, I remember seeing the preview and saying, I didn't know there was three of them. Also McDonald's did Back To The Future also and weird thing is I somehow saw the in the 80's but watched them in reverse.

  6. Great discussion, everyone!

I always thought Indy knew to tell Marion not to look during the opening of the Ark because he would be familiar with The Book of Genesis.

In the biblical story, despite the angels warning not to look back at the destruction of Sodom, Lot's wife looked back witnessing the wrath of God and was severely punished by being turned into a pillar of salt.

The high-ranking "German nationalists" are similarly judged unworthy of being saved and suffer cruel punishments before they are all wiped clean off the Earth.

Edit: I just want to add that as a kid watching Toht melt and Dietrich whither away scared the hell out of me. I think it might be a core (gore?) memory, alongside Rotelli burning to a crisp in Batman 1989.

  7. 1:37:46 interestingly Mussolini rose to power in 1922 , at the time Hitler hadn't even written the "Mein Kampf". In the early days of the NSDAP they watched Mussolini as an inspiration, that was before they realized what sort of clown he was in reality, but that's a story for another time

  8. Pat Roach was in all 3 indiana jones movies. In the last crusade, he was the guy walking with the main nazi general into the blimp. In a deleted scene, he catches indy changing into the ticket guy suit, and has a quick fight in small room, that's why indy is winded and sweaty whiles asking for tickets…

  9. My favorite Indiana Jones film is part 3 the last crusade. I got to say Tony your comedic timing is spot on for this review.

Little fun fact the line you said about Indy's original being Indiana smith was parody by the animaniacs cartoon called Illinois Smith and in the simpsons opening they recreated when Bart took homer's change jar.

And correct me if I am wrong on this, but isn't Temple of doom considered a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark in timeline wise so Indy and the TOD (Temple of Doom) is the first, next comes Raiders of the Lost ark, then Last Crusade.

  10. I always thought the Ark "absorbs" the bodies of the nazis and that rubber dummy flying nazi it was to show us they are indeed being takin inside the Ark, or am i remember it wrong?
