REMOTE FILIPINO ISLAND OF FISH! Cheapest In The Country? (Tawi-Tawi Philippines)

THE REMOTE ISLAND OF MAPUN IN TAWI-TAWI IS LITERALLY FULL OF DELICIOUS, FRESH, AND VERY CHEAP FISH!

In this video, we spend our first day exploring and getting to know Mapun. The day starts off with a breakfast at the family compound we are staying… then we head off to barangay sikub to check out the coast. The ocean and environment here is beautiful! It was so great seeing people come together as well for a coastal cleanup. We stop by our first Jama Mapun house, and get to know the community more… which as you will see in coming videos… is beautiful!!

This is just a raw little adventure day around this remote island in Tawi-Tawi. A place that we could tell right away was amazing! We could also tell there is an abundance of fish here… it is literally everywhere!! Not to mention, the prices are not per kilo… but per fish! Some of the cheapest I have seen anywhere in the Philippines. Oh, and we also go for our first little ocean swim session! It was great!

From Mapun, Tawi-Tawi, Mindanao…

POWER ON!

  1. Hey, Kumar. Howdy? You said at the wedding, “He’s all yours, Therine”! The married Kulas is already out “gallivanting”, lol! Anyway, continue to enjoy the islands of my dreams.

  2. Kulas is more Filipino than many of us Filipinos. He has immersed himself in the daily life of ordinary Filipinos, even reaching far off islands like Tawi-Tawi where many of us don’t even consider visiting. Keep it up Kulas, you are doing a great job and service to your adopted country! God bless!

  4. The reason why I don’t eat Tilapia because these are the type of fishes I ate growing up. 😭 I am drooling watching you eat my favorite ulam and snacks. It hurts paying 320pesos for 1kg of tuna where I live now while in Mapun it’s only 120 for 1 whole fish 😭😭😭
