Make Clancy Fiction Again! We lived through a version of the end of Debt of Honor, and a version of Executive Order, and now possibly Red Storm Rising…. Or, depending on what China decides to do, the Bear and the Dragon…
I love that this is available for free. The parts concerning Iceland and Captain Morris’ PTSD hit a lot harder now than they did 25 years ago when I first read this book.
For my taste, it was quite hard to listen to the whole story, much too much military jargon and too little political and analysis. Oh well, its not the readers fault. He was good enough. It would be nice to have a young Russian General today, to finish the war in this kind of manner, within 24 hours. But the sword of Damocles is still hanging above our heads. Thats reality and the Americans aren't willing for negotiations. Don't push the Russians too far to the edge, boy's!
This is surely the best Tom Clancy book ever written. I've read this book seven times since I bought it as a new release, and it gets better every time I read it. Tom Clancy is sorely missed. Sorry, I forgot to thank you for putting this on your site. I'm very grateful for that.
The narrator shows his lack of military experience yet again with ending messages with X which translates as STOP in G.I.speak.🤔😅 And again with the pronunciation of LIMA (LEEMA in G.I. speak).
I estimate At least 85k NATO dead, 120-150k wounded.
Over 120k Warsaw pact dead. 160k+ wounded.
That's a lot if you consider the war was literally 4-6 weeks in this book.
Also real world figures at the time, had NATO looking at months worth of munitions, before they ran out. Which is why it was so significant for the Russians to hit the convoys, and for NATO to keep the Atlantic open.
Would be interesting to hear Tom Clancy's remake on the technical aspects of this after Desert Storm and now the Ukraine / Russian war. The Russians wished their equipment works about 15% as effective as it does in this novel.
I'm at about 8 hours rn, and while the opening air battle is silly, for example the soviets don't rely solely on AWACS but mostly on surface radars like P18s, but it's overall pretty good
Many interesting facets to this book, however, the premise that NATO, and the CIA wouldn’t know what the current Soviet fuel situation was is ridiculous.

I was in teenager read this book John six times
Wonder how many of the ships noted herein are still in commission, limited or otherwise?
Thank you. Really enjoyed the the story and the narration.
..just now learned Tom Clancy isn't alive anymore.. It actually brought some tears 🙁 Goddamn legend that man.
00:20:55 – “I don’t think Red Adair would want any part of this job.”
Most people have no clue who Red Adair was.
F. Murray Abraham performed the abridged version. His performance was top drawer! Prefer unabridged audiobook though.

I payed $20 for this exact same audiobook 2 weeks ago.
I feel like a clown
You can tell the narrator never served. Only a civilian would call a mark 48 an M K.🤔😂
Literally can't watch or listen to anything on YouTube without 20 commercials interrupting it!!! ENOUGH YOUTUBE!!!!!

I'm enjoying the audiobook, but the "video" title and (most of) the thumbnail is just nonsense. What the hell does Putin have to do with it?
love to overall plot, but the love story and the dialogue is so cringy

FIXIT channel has some of these chapters with either DCS or War Thunder using the actual vehicles, kinda cool
More appropriate title would be: "Red Hobo Army Floundering"

O'Malley is basically Maverick if Maverick flew helicopters😂
