Real 737 Pilot LIVE | High Temperature Operations in the ZIBO MOD | Circle to Land into Comiso

A Heatwave is gripping Southern Europe and today we’re going to operate and talk about some of the implications of operating in hot temperatures.

We’ll be routing from Corfu (LGKR) in Greece where a bleeds off take off will be required for performance reasons. We’ll then fly to Comiso (LICB) on the Island of Sicily where westerly winds will force us to fly the challenging circling approach with very high circling minima!

THIS STREAM IS NOT TO BE USED FOR REAL WORLD FLIGHT TRAINING

The primary purpose of this stream is to give you the opportunity to see how a Real 737 Captain operates a desktop simulated aircraft in real time using real world operating procedures.

Whilst every effort is made to accurately replicate the way the aircraft is flown based on my experience as an Airline Captain and Type Rating Instructor, this is purely for entertainment only.

If you happen to be a line pilot or training pilot you must not follow the guidance in this livestream, it is purely for non-professional computer simulated flight. Only consult your approved material from your respective operator.

Personal questions and queries regarding my employment status will not be answered.

  1. Coincidentally I was reading this week about a circle-to-landing gone terribly wrong with an A321 (ABQ202). Most procedures mentioned in this video were disregarded by the PF, taking shortcuts in a way that rather we – sim pilots – might do. Interesting read in addition to this (as always) very informative video.

  2. Hi flightdeck2sim!
Have you tried out "virtual Performance tool" yet? I was wondering whether it is an accurate performance tool or not. It mimmics a real life Performance calculator. Maybe it's something interesting to try out, in case you haven't yet!

  3. Is there any downside at all to doing the isolated engine start procedure? It would seem to me during an ongoing airborne pandemic, keeping ventilation going the absolute maximum possible would be safest for all passengers.

The checklist I use for the MD-80 actually had you do this every time, though the pneumatic crossfeed thing is a bit different than the isolation valves.

Did I hear you say that you only use the left pack on departure with the APU? If so, what’s the reason?
