6:40 I said 4 and a half hours battery life, that is correct, the graph is incorrect, which I also used to base the percentages on, which are also incorrect. I have updated the graph for future videos, however the value should be 273 mins. So it's actually 16% more battery life from a 12% larger battery vs last year's Blade 17, still an improvement, but no where near as much as I said based on the incorrect graph.
Razer laptops are great. Such a shame their customer support is total trash.
the price is too high. maybe Razer need to extend their warranty on unit. maybe 5 years warranty is enough for the price.
Can't wait to see your Scar review, but I don't think it matters much. The Strix 18 is $1,200 cheaper than the Blade 18. I'm not sure how Asus could have messed up bad enough for the Strix to not be the best buy. And the reduction in unicorn vomit you get with the Strix as opposed to the Blade or Scar is a feature in my eyes.
When do 4070 Laptops Come to Market …? These Models are all too expensive even if i had the money …
Any updates on how your blade died when stacking on top of each other?
I’ve always enjoyed the simple aesthetic of Razer’s laptop compared to rainbow-teenage-transformers-useless other brand’s one. But all those issues I’ve heard about screen flickering or trackpad ghosting seriously pushes me away from buying razer. When you pay $4,500 this is simply not acceptable. At that price point it should be perfect and straight.
4060 laptop review plz
Anyone know what graphics card I need to run World of Tanks at 4K or 1440p?
Rtx 4060 next
Soon I bet laptops will be 24 inches size of a monitor 😆
@JarrodsTech Try using older Intel drivers, it helped at least me.
I wonder why there is no 18 inch laptop with 4k display. Its ridiculous. Most offer only 1 display option which is qhd
My dream laptop is the 16 Razer
I always said OLED is superior
The screen frame is really thick compared to macbook
it's all fun and games when it comes to performance for Razer until the Asus scar line shows up
We would appreciate if u could add 2560•1600 gaming performance with 1080p and 1440p as mostly the new laptops are coming with 16:10 aspect ratios
In your opinion, which laptop is better for gaming Razer 18 or Asus scar 18? Which laptop is more reliable?
The keyboard looks tiny compared to the laptop without numpad, looks like they just dont care and made really bad keyboard integration
Thoughts on Laptop MSI katana GF76 12UG-414BE 17.3inch (1,8k price)?
Buying my first gaminglaptop.
Love the vids btw
The reason why the cooling pad made little difference is because there's no air vents directly over the cpu and gpu like in other laptops…
40w cpu when gaming is crazy when there's so much thermal headroom. I really hope they fix this and allow 70w.
This is exactly the video I needed. I was thinking about getting this exact spec model and now I am getting one for sure.
The price is a joke, 7099 AUD for the 4080 which I can buy a used car with that money.
They's STILL only allowing fan control in the lower power limit profile? WOW. I spent months trying to explain this to the robots there and this is a classic reason why I avoid Razer. They actually don't get it.
That said this is clearly the best laptop they have ever made, and a slight cpu power limit tweak when under combined GPU load would make it a lot better again, whatever wattage the cpu can handle to go up to say 90 degrees instead of 77 degrees which is perfectly safe. I am guessing maybe 60 watts now that I think about it, not 70 as I wrote previously. It would be similar to Asus and MSI. Also, I wish they were using liquid metal as that would shave 5 degrees off the temps AT LEAST. So, still Razer mistakes here, but their techs are so bad that I guess they don't want them to ever have to apply liquid metal. After all, I had a blade advanced sent in for a dead GPU. In balanced mode with fans at max, the maximum temp was 70 degrees, and it came back doing 100 degrees with identical settings. In boost mode it used to hit 99 degrees at 4.2ghz, and it came back hitting 100 degrees at 2.9 ghz and they couldn't understand it. In Australia at least, they obviously had no clue how to apply thermal paste and put the vapor chamber back together.
It was a long fight, initially 2 months just to get an RMA to fix it, then another month till the actual merchant stepped in as the laptop was only 6 months old when the fault happened. It scarred me for life with them but this is the closest laptop to having all the features I want in 2023, the only name brand one to do so actually, unless hopefully the new Metabox 17" Clevo one manages to post good performance and temps. That's the final option for me and if not I will have no choice but Razer if I want to upgrade as I need Win hello, all key function lit, a 4090 and a HDR 500 nit screen. Oh and G-Sync.
LOL P cores when gaming are same MHZ as e cores.
Maybe since the CPU is properly unlocked, we can get better speeds on P cores by disabling the E. I mean 8 cores at 4ghz will for example will perform better in GAMES than 24 cores at 2ghz. Clock speed and single core performance matters. Thoughts?
Wow such a bright screen and great response time. Razer nailed the panel.
My time spy CPU mark is only 20% being on a 2021 8 core 11th gen 11800H (Legion 7i). That tells you just how much the cpu is neutered here when gaming. 24 cores vs 8 and I am at worst case only 20% behind. WOW. It should be double my score.
No numpad on this huge laptop. No buy for me just because of this. If you are not getting 4090, might as well save money and go for 3080
Thanks for the review(s)! I can’t wait to see more.
I’m currently waiting for my Asus Scar 16, but I’m thinking about canceling the preorder, because of the coil whine issues. I don’t know what to do. Did you had any issues with the new Asus laptop(s)?
@6:40 you say the battery lasted 4 and a half hours but the chart shows 6 and a half (4 and a half was last year's model)
Very poor 1% lows, I wonder if games are being confused by so many slower e-cores.
I’m DYING for the ASUS Zephyrus line up to finally arrive. Got my eye on the new M16 but won’t do anything without your review.
The 18" nowadays is basically the 17" from several years back, when they had significantly bigger bezels. I know I have on my ASUS V752VM from 2016. 17" screen, but I bet that the laptop size is about the same as this 18", as the bezels seem huge (not a problem for me though, but it does show its age). I don't think it needs specialized bags, the one meant to carry 17" laptops should fit this fine.
And just 4 kg with the charger included is pretty good for a big laptop like this. You can see the "blade" in the name with this.
I'm curious to see asus rog flow x16 performance because of Intel cpu.
Razor laptops are the worse, overheats and expensive for no reason.
Perfect! Thanks a lot!
I’m happy there is no numpad. Numpads should die
would like to see videos about laptops with the 4070/4060
For gaming mainly with a little bit of email work and such, would you rather the QHD+ IPS panel or Dual Mini-LED one? I wanna get the 4080 one and cant decide which panel is right for me!
I think the pricing of laptops is getting out of hand this year. which normal person can afford a higher end gaming laptop.
4500$ ….. 3800$…srsly? the gab between laptop and pc is getting too big, at least from my view as pretty poor guy 😀
And then you pay 3800$ and still only get a 1TB ssd, like come on….
Hey guys i never had a laptop in my life can someone suggest me a good budget gaming laptop? I am soo confused on what to buy there are variety of options, I just want a gaming laptop that is suitable for school purposes and gaming.
Is it better deal to buy 12700h/3070 Ti on discount now or just pay more and wait for 13900k/4070 or 4060? For sure i am not going to buy 4080 laptop. Do you think 13900k+ Gpu series 4000 will be having a better temps tham 12700/Gpu series 3000? Laptops 2022 got now good prices. Any good Advice 🙂 iam thinking about helios 300 – 2022
Can anyone help me decide of should I wait for the new laptop rtx40 series to come that's around 1499$ or should I just buy the Zephyrus G15 at 1499$ which it got 2K 165Hz Ryzen 9 5900HS RTX3080 1TB M.2 SSD and 16GB DDR4. Can anyone give me an idea on this please help since I never used an expensive 500$+ laptop before.
Dude seriously? You didn't get balls to counter noobs like Max Tech? Can't believe that you represent pcmr mobile sector.
Hey Jarrod, thanks for testing the laptop with Ubuntu. I bought the same spec Blade four days ago and after hours of trying to fix the speakers issue, I couldn't (although I'm experienced in Linux OS). Most probably, the processor is pretty new, the drivers don't seem to be supporting the new generation yet. Having used it as a daily driver for my software development setup, migrating from a well-speced MacBook Pro feels like some sacrifice on screen resolution, but nothing else beats it in terms of performance. For my developer usage based on tools like VS Code, IntelliJ IDEA, terminal emulators and many Chrome processes, the battery lasted more than two hours with relatively moderate brightness. I, personally, do not intend to use it for gaming, but rather for my professional work. An RTX 4080 easily allows me to plug three 4K displays (120Hz, 60Hz, 60Hz), plus the laptop screen, and they all work well. The headphone jack works though, and also a Bluetooth earbud. Would recommend developer folks like me. As an additional suggestion, instead of carrying that small-but-still-big charger, get a USB-C charger from Razer and a Thunderbolt 4 dock for a full-fledged setup.
