📌 It is unlikely that the eggs will hatch at this point. We have no way of knowing why. It could be environmental, such as temperatures, humidity percentages, oxygen levels at high altitude, etc. It could be biological with something just being off at the time the eggs were created. It is very unlikely that either Jackie or Shadow are infertile since they have already had 2 sets of chicks together – in 2019 and 2022.
📌 A replacement (second) clutch may be common if the first one was lost very early on (within 1-2 weeks) and uncommon otherwise. It is unlikely there will be another clutch this season. Jackie is still incubating the current clutch.

This is a live bald eagle’s nest. The nest is built 145ft up in a Jeffrey Pine tree ~7100ft ASL, one of the highest elevation Bald Eagle nests in the US! It is measured ~5 1/2’ wide and 6’ deep https://bit.ly/3PoSmP6

Big Bear Lake is ~7 miles long, ~1/2 mile wide, and sits at 6750 ft. ASL. The lake forms thin layers of ice, but never freezes completely, making it a favorite for wintering eagles & many birds. The lake is stocked a couple of times a year.

Jackie hasn't been on the nest all day. Shadow on and off. I think the time has come.
Quite sad for Shadow as he's still "hoping" for little ones. Sad for Jackie too. These eagles did their absolute best in the horrible weather that they dealt with. WOULDA just been AWESOME to have one, two, or three little ones. We'll, we'll be watching and waiting for next season. I know l am for sure!❤❤🙏🙏🦅🦅

Just an observation right now while watching, I believe Shadow, on the nest. It’s beginning to look more like a fort now with all of the sticks that both of them have brought to build up their nest. They should be proud of it! 😅
