Why would they bother with bolters when there is whole squads of special weapons?
Noise Marines are a bit weird in that you get punished for running larger squads- you only get 1 Blastmaster regardless of squad size, as well as getting a Doom Siren for the Champion. Probably the only real advantage of playing Emperor's Children at the moment is getting to run 6 5-strong squads of them for maximum Blastmasters, if that happens to be something you really want to do. Sadly I've never found the thing to be all that effective- it's by no means a bad weapon but it's basically a slightly better Missile Launcher in that it's sort-of-good against both infantry and vehicles but not really ideal against either. Their Mark only giving them a bonus in melee when they're clearly meant to be a shooting unit doesn't help!
I think a key takeaway from this in terms of GW game design:
Wolf scouts ie fully fledge veterans, are worse than scouts ie neophyte, in an army that cannot actually use them in the lore.
That and, I truly hate combined points.
Having two datasheet for plague marine would be great, classic 1 champion+1weapon per 5 and the rest is good old bolter.
Maybe give them a real ability 😅
Honestly, the standard boltgun (S4 AP0) simply has no purpose in the game right now. Five guys getting 10 shots into GEQ with cover will kill two models. It's honestly a shame, such an iconic weapon. No boltgun should be AP0. It is literally a fully automatic rifle that shoots small rocket propelled explosives. How is that the same AP as a small autopistol carried by a cultist?
for all you Boarding Action players out there Sternguard are amazing. Anti-Infantry 4+, Rapid Fire and Dev wounds is good.
Despite being small tactical marines still look better in so many ways.
What happened to the tactical squad i thought you could take two special weapons and swap out a special weapon for a heavy weapon like heavy bolters and lascannons?
Primaris Crusaders getting 5 Chainsword attacks is highly suspect. If the BT ever get a codex this edition I hope it goes down to a more sane value.
If reivers could just get AP 1 in melee, they would be great in a Blood angels list.
However, at 75pts, they could make a great screening/move blocking/sacrificial unit….
I love this channel. I get to receive 40k content in the form of a sell side pitch book.
Where are the Aggressors and Centurions?
Bolter Rubrics are totally underrated. You can make them S5 and psychic for 1CP. This gives then sus/lethal/devs depending on whst you chose (its almost always devs). Then thry jave 24" range which is pretty big. Now they rerolling 1s to wound or full rerolls onto the objectives. Stand them next to magnus and they are +1 to hit and wound. I dont care if its only 2 shots per gun. They can happily pick a tank up.
Ive been watching your videos for a few months now as i just go into 40k but all that advice on shooting order and other videos regarding different factions helped me win my first game against death guard so thank you!
17:14 i refuse to acknowledge that this took up a whole data sheet
As someone who's been playing Tacticus for nearly two years now, it's an alright game.
Some people might be turned off because it has an energy system (I also hate energy systems), or because there are optional ads (I also hate ads), but I'll explain a bit here on why it's not much of an issue.
First, the energy: You regen 12 energy per hour. That's enough to do two stages, since once you've completed the first few pages of the initial learning campaign (Indomitus, Ultramarines vs. Necrons), every standard stage takes 6 energy. It's not a big deal because the game frontloads you with TONS of energy, and as you unlock more game modes (Onslaught, Salvage, Arena, Guild Raid, Guild War) it backs off of burying you in energy, so you can do a bit here and there with your free time and not feel buried by "wasted efficiency." Here's a list of timers for accessing the various content:
-arena token: 2.5 hours (cap 15 tokens)
-salvage token: 12 hours (cap 2 tokens)
-onslaught token: 16 hours (cap 3 tokens)
-guild raid token: 12 hours (cap 3 tokens)
-guild war token: this one is a bit more unique, as you get 10 tokens & have 36 hours to spend them all, followed by a 24-hour break, then you get 10 more to spend within the 36 hours again, etc… (this happens for 6 rounds, then there's 16 days until the next season's wars).
All those game modes combined with the constant trickle of energy gives you plenty to do, so the energy system doesn't feel restrictive (you can also get a little extra energy per day, we'll talk about that shortly)
Ok, now onto Ads. We all hate ads, they're a blight on the land. Tacticus, in a genius play, has turned ads into a daily resource you have access to. Each day you can watch up to 7 ads, and there are a number of places you can do so to get an advantage. You can:
-get 50 free energy once per day
-refresh the contents of the shop (the shop has both coins-based purchases and blackstone items, blackstone being the premium currency)
-you can refresh the guild raid/war shops once per day each (they use resources you earn by playing the guild raid/guild war modes)
-Many events let you watch an ad to get an additional play, usually once per day (hero quests allow you to spend any number of your ads per day on them)
Most of these actions can also be done by paying the premium currency instead of watching an ad, but the raid/war shop refreshes are either one ad or one blackstone payment, no matter how you choose to do it. It's a way for people to have some free competition with the big spenders, using their ads instead of their wallet to get value on the daily
I like Sterns, they are pretty solid and are cheap, if you have the points they are worth it
No chosen ?
A fine illustration of two things.
1. Free Wargear is stupid, and spoils the game.
2. Primaris Marines are a joke, at least the way GW have implemented them. So many data sheets, so many variations in boltguns. A boltguns should be the same whoever is wielding it.
