Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PC Graphics Analysis – Does It Surpass The PS5 Version?

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has finally made its way over to the PC platform, courtesy of Nixxes Software which previously delivered ports of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It’s a feature-rich port that improves on the PS5 version and not only supports new upscaling techniques like XeSS and Insomniac’s own Temporal Injection but also enables new graphics options like ray-traced ambient occlusion and ultra-quality RT reflections.

The game performs well on our test bench comprising of Ryzen 9 5950x, Nvidia RTX 3080Ti, and 32 GB of RAM – and we were able to reach a stable 60fps with little to no drops. There are some issues related to loading specifically in the rift sequences, but apart from that – there’s little to complaint about here.

  2. Sony is at risk of losing Square Enix to Microsoft. Losing Bethesda or Activision with Spyro and Cash is a hit to playstation but That'll be the beginning of the end of Sony if they lose Square Enix

  3. My question is always " is it x amount better" if I am paying somewhere twice to six times the price of a PS5 then I expect it to be twice to six times better in performance. In my experience with a lot of PC ports is they do just bearly better and only after messing with settings for a few hours. Sometimes I just want to put the game in and have it work. My pc is getting old so I doubt it could even handle this game at all now

  4. I really really enjoyed the game….just a simple no nonsense and fun game which looks amazing, I had loading issues even on SSD but tbh my computer does have issues so likely more that than the game

  5. Yeah, Nixxes has done it again. Great port with tons of options to the PC so of course it will look better there and yet, this game as made on PS5 three years ago and was ground breaking back then. I'm amazed from what Insomniac were managed to pull off. I have a 120fps TV so I was able to play this at 40fps fidelity. Great stuff

  7. Honestly, given the quality of some of the recent PC ports, I was excited to see the Nixxes logo (as I think both Spider Man games were great ports). I was not disappointed. I am grateful there is at least one company that does PC ports justice.

  8. Very stable 1440p @165hz it is silky smooth and fast. SATA based Samsung EVO 870 4TB SSD has a fraction of seconds between loading assets but once in effect the portal gimmick is seamless.
Godda test it on even older system, with something like GTX 1060

  9. Surprising that consoles still don't have an fov slider, I dropped out of the console gang back during ps3/360 and seeing the current state of consoles I made the right choice. This game release was pretty solid for the most part but it'll get improved later down the road as they patch and fix up things. On top of that there will be mods made for this game which everyone knows they can get pretty crazy.

  10. If the PS5 Pro is truly coming out, it would be interesting to see how that stacks up against the PC version of this game.

And if the rumored specs for the PS5 Pro is true, then it will be the closest we can get to a high end PC for consoles. This console generation is the best regardless, because SSD is standard and cross for the next generation of consoles won’t have the Hard Drive bottleneck anymore!

  12. Haven't played the PS5 version but it looks alright on PC on a 2080. RT ON is another story, tho I found a balance between looks and 45+ fps.

  13. Honestly I’m surprised they have games looking and performing like they do on ps5 this game looks good but horizon is just beautiful probably the best looking game out there also I wish they would have done some dlc expansions or something for ratchet and clank at least expanded the arena etc

  14. 5:28 dude what did you say there lol? RTAO doesn't enable any reflections at all, it's just adds RT ambient occlusion, a.k.a shadows that are in corners, under objects etc. Seems you don't know the difference between RTAO and RT reflections.

  15. I had crashes with refex on off it was fine i could not get a steady 60 fps on my rtx 3070 and ryzen 5600x 980 Evo SSD without turning off rtx at 1440p with high to medium settings mostly medium.

  16. Specifically what nvme drive are you guys using? Speeds can vary (sometimes wildly) between Gen3/4/5 nvme brands and pricing. If memory serves, my Samsung 980 Pro runs on-par/slightly higher than the PS5's advertised speed (theoretically, in practice it depends on the type of work load).

Game looks interesting but I'm not going to pay full price for a repackaged console game that's 2yrs old now, definitely on my sale watch thou.

  17. Honestly didn't have loading issues on my nvme. But maannn the performance is garbage for me once ray traced shadows and ambient occlusion are enabled. Goes from 100fps 1440p to high 50s. Dlss enabled on my 2080 super
