I Investigated Australia's Worst Journalists

Let’s look at how Four Corners, the self proclaimed “home of Australian investigative journalism” covered Afghan War whistleblower David McBride.

  1. I’m new and American. So I don’t know your content as much as a lot of people in your comments clearly do (or at least claim to). But I think you need to take a step back. The state of the world, the government, and the press is downright infuriating, I know. I get it, believe me. But your “cheap shots” At the me too movement, non-binary and trans people, and Chelsea Manning are NOT what this needed, and I think you know it too. If anything, all of those topics are perfect examples of what you’re trying to showcase here: a media system that cares more about LOOKING like it cares than actually caring. And yet, you had to choose the worst ways to make those shots? You know, the ones that sound victim-blamey, transphobic, and dismissive to the literal fucking torture someone went through for the exact same thing the person you’re upset for made. That rhetoric has and will continue to attract people who are just here to support you saying that sort of stuff, and nothing else. They will hype up your transphobic wording, intentional or not, until eventually it’s all you’re going to be spewing. The real issue you’re upset about will be forgotten, and will that make this worth it? Really? Will it? I want you to at least give that a thought because I don’t think it will. And I’ve seen shit like this happen to well meaning people like you all the time until it’s inevitably just hatred at a group of marginalized people they’re spewing instead of towards the actual fucking problem.

I know you’re mad. You have every right to be, I’m mad too. But if I have to watch my tone when correcting someone gently on my pronouns, the absolute least you can do is to just think a bit before making cheap and nasty shots about trans people at the absolute minimum.

For my trans and nonbinary siblings, don’t feed the trolls in the comments. It’s not worth it. Just go get a drink of water if you can and take care of yourselves. 💚💚💚🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

  2. I'm surprised at how many people are thankfully calling jordies out for his "anti-woke" rhetoric.

Jordies is NOT progressive. This is clear by when, even the LNP were in power, he would constantly punch down on the Greens. The fact that he felt it necessary to add in the comments about Chelsea and calling out DEI is absolutely baffling.

It's also insane how he thinks addressing issues in private schools is unimportant – our country is double the OECD average GDP investment into private schools, and they absolutely need to be held to account. He's very happy to call out the LNP when it suits him and he hasn't criticised anything regarding Labor since they came in.

Also – he made a joke video about going to pine gap…. and somehow thinks that "omg 4cornerz cant match dis" is insane.

  3. "Four Corners" is a dental/orthodontist place here in the town I'm living in, so out of context, this is even more wild…
(I know this is a serious subject for you guys, but I thought you could use a little humor).

  4. I was really frustrated with this new video, I felt like it came close to nailing some really good points only to break the landing with an awkward “gender woke shit” joke. I don’t know what his own views on these gender studies are, but the representation of them in this video left a sour taste in my mouth.

  5. Holy shit, when you said the term war crimes was an overused meme for "journalists", I actually felt my perception of reality crumble a bit, revealing that, yea holy shit, they actually don't treat this with the seriousness and analysis it deserves, the same way people who say ableist or sexually harassing memes don't think about what they're talking about.

  6. Why is assagne in jail and manning free? Well, Julian dodged his proceeding and only recently jailed (2019), while Manning was arrested and started her sentence in July, 2010, and released in 2017, went back in 2019 for failure to serve a subpoena, went back, tried to kill herself in 2020, but was released later that year and hit with a $250K+ US fine. So yeah, come on man, you're better than that. Maybe it was satire and I'm too dumb to get it, but if so, dude, you missed the mark hard.

  7. Not reading or using the documents you were provided, rating out your informant, and then going out against him is the most disgusting thing in "journalism" I've seen in a while. And they reported on it late, like damn, where did they get their degrees?, in a cereal box?

  8. Nepotism journalists are a disgrace. Tbh I was against privatizing the ABC but at this point I dont see what will be lost from doing so, they just follow the narrative set by murdoch and fair fax press anyway with a tinge of unsufferable fake morality for no reason

  9. I mean, i would be the first to defend David but…

The claims he made about Rules of Engagement Amplification and basically saying that if there was too much regulation on soldiers then "we'd be better off sending them home", not even acknowledging the fact that even if you agreed with the war you wouldn't have agreed with wanton murder.

Additionally, some of the other stuff he has said was WILD, saying that pollies would want to be photographed with dead soldiers for higher approval rating and that's why they want these new RoE.

Maybe you should check your own biases. Just saying. This is why i trust mainstream media more than people like you or Michael West.

  10. Support from Europe ❤ I'm not personally invested in this story but I always respect groups like you. Independent online organisations like you guys are the last thing keeping the bloated corpse of journalism and integrity alive.

  11. Do a video on Albo QUADRUPLING the "eSafety" budget to "crackdown on misinformation and harmful content" on the internet. AKA, censoring true information (like all the TRUE information provided online that causes them to lose the Referendum vote).

Or the "eSaftey" commissioner openly admitting that "harmful content" is whatever the the government decides it is. PS she is a WEF plant and not even an Aussie, getting paid $400K a year to tell us what we are allowed to see online in our own country.
