Radiance in Skies: Saga of Indian Air Force’s Transport Fleet

Indian Air Force (IAF) has a vast transport fleet, probably one of the largest in the world. A fleet of 13 Hercules CJ-130 and 11 C-17 Globemaster III was added to the IAF over the last 15 years. This has brought a substantial increase in the strategic lift roles of the IAF while also improving its tonnage capacity per mile. Over the years, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has evolved to adroitly manage its transport fleet and make it available for both defence support and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions. As IAF celebrates its 90th anniversary, its transport fleet has become the flagbearers of India’s relief efforts across the world, carrying aid and assistance to disaster-hit countries.

  1. I hope IAF will opt to replace its An-32s with C-295s to insure logistical synergy to a greater extent.

Indian-Govt must consider to buy CH-53K King Stallion & V-22 Ospreys from USA to boost the VTOL capability for Indian Security forces.
