  2. This is such an amazing idea!!
I've been thinking about it the past few days and because we live in a simulation or something, poof this video appears.
Thank you for fueling my antics <3

  3. Your idea sounds similar to Ikoria from MtG. There also were cities defended from monsters by magical shields (or at least I remeber it like that) and there were also people who can create a link with this monsters (but because they have links with monsters, enemies of humanity, they arent liked by most of people).
I know that doesn't looks like Pokemon, but I thought about something like this as Poke-D&D.

  4. I've actually been building a pokemon world myself and this system would fit in perfectly so I would love to testit out.

In my world tho each race has a type too but tha can solely be a lore thing because, as you said, by Arceus tha can get confusing.

  5. I have done it. I have found the other person in the world who likes Sableye. While there is no official Pokémon RPG you really should check out Pokemon Tabletop United it is a really cool system and because it is not official all the books are free.

  6. A hat: "There's no official Pokemon TTRPG"
Me: "Oh boy I'm going to recommend Pokemon Tabletop United that's my favorite"
The same hat: "…carrying an ungodly ammount of stat blocks with you, it would bog down the game tremendously and…"
Me: "Yeah… Let's not talk about PTU then lol"

  7. With that kind of explanation I say that Nintendo should definitely not hire you for a pokemon table top RPG.

You might need to work on your sales pitch. The concept however is quite promising.

  8. Im curious, would this system work for if players wanted to play AS pokemon, I have a few players interested in a mystery dungeon type of setting since the idea of multiple pokemon doesnt jive with them?
Also shoutout to pokemon tabletop united system for people that want something way closer to the games (though its book keeping heavy and i recommend using its foundry module to automate most of it).
Oh and for the pf2e players out there, I believe battlezoo has a pokemon system homebrew for pf2e that sounds pretty cool and adds a few classes

  9. I've been running a Pokemon D&D game in my school's D&D club for some time now, and my players have been loving it. I totally felt the aspect of, "But if I put Pokemon in D&D it wouldn't be D&D." At that rate, you might as well run Mutants & Masterminds or something, where you can literally be a Pokemon trailer by the base rules (if your GM doesn't mind the copyright infringement). This is why I came up with a unique way of doing the Pokemon. I didn't want them to be just monster stat blocks that the players had on top of their character sheets, especially since I wanted to run a game more similar to the mainline Pokemon games and anime where the trainers wouldn't actively partake in battle, so a character sheet would almost never be used. So, instead, I had my players pick what Pokemon they wanted to start their journey with and helped them pick a class that matched up well. For example, I'll use my DMPC, Christian. He has a Sandile, so I chose rogue for him. His different abilities are just different moves. Since the level one character is equivalent to the Pokemon being level 5, Sandile has access to Power Trip, Leer, and Sand Attack. Power Trip is just sneak attack damage, so "Sneak Attack" on the character sheet was renamed Power Trip. My dagger attacks are just Sandile biting, since that seems fair even without Pokemon moves. It's not a replicable system, since literally everything is just built by the player and I sitting down together and organizing the different class abilities into Pokemon moves. However, my players have had tons of fun so far, and the system has yet to bite me in the butt (and my players have yet to abuse it). It gets a little tricky with range, since the Pokemon can move separately from their trainer, but it has yet to be a serious problem. I don't really pay attention to range when DMing anyway.

  10. there used to be a pokemon homebrew that became semi-famous for fans of both games, but nintendo had it taken down when they caught wind of it so is prolly best to be careful about how much of ur own homebrew u post

  11. You could also probably have the bond phenomenon ability from the anime, where if the Pokémon and its trainer have such a strong bond they straight up fuse because of their synced emotions and thoughts but when the Pokémon takes damage so does the trainer, they have other abilities like see through each other’s eyes and powering up the Pokémon’s moves. But in the anime it’s only able to be used by certain individual Pokémon and trainers, not species but just that individual Pokémon with a certain trainer usually with a similar personality.
This ability was shown in the xyz anime where it was shown a greninja in ancient times had this ability, and then ash and his greninja accidentally use the ability in the heat of the moment but they learn to control and master the moment, turning greninja’s cut into kunai made of water and upgrades its water shuriken.
I’m pretty sure Ash has the ability because in one of the movies, the one with lucario as the main focus, ash is able to use aura, which is pretty much just magic but only certain Pokémon and trainers have them, for example lucario is the aura Pokémon and can use aura to attack and in the Pokémon journeys anime, ash gets a lucario has an ability similar to the bond phenomenon, so the bond phenomenon probably relates to aura in some way
