  1. Most probably you are sucking some sand with water and the sand hits the inside of the pump suction tubing and weakens the tubing wall by thinning and filling away some of the material.

  3. Great video Alex! I felt your anguish and in this current heat understand the difficulty working in these conditions. Im currently building a shaded roof for the south side of our tiny house and can only really work from 5am – 9am and from 20:00 till sunset. The fire you covered was a huge concern for us as we live not so far from Japser. Thanfully the wind was blowing in a favourable direction otherwise things might have been really bad. Keep your pecker Up! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugs and ๐Ÿซ‚

  4. Blimey you do like to have fun !! Hopefully the new pipe lasts a very long time . Eye watering price tho . The old pipe, or parts off may come in handy for something in the future ,it will still take water being pumped through it ? Fingers crossed next week will be issue free

  5. Alex, it looks like the valve in the bottom of the pipe that's preventing suction of water, because it's brocken so the top part stock in the bottom so it's acting in reverse if you know what I mean…

  6. I would like to write something nice. Hard work to stay safe.

Calculate 1000 millibar from the earthโ€™s air. That makes that you can maximum suck 10 meters deep.

If you have 6/7 meters long to the water table.
The pump creates minus 0.6/0.7 bar.

Implosion is way stronger than explosion.
Maybe the sun was shining on the hose and heated it up so it was soft.
Hard to tell from the images.

  7. Thanks for the video! I can't even imagine having to worry about funds AND fires and everything else like animals getting sick and so on. Hats off for you and your family! Thank you Alex for showing us what you did to prevent sticks and so on getting into the pump, I learn so much from you all even if I live a different life here in Sweden. My parents were dairy farmers so my roots will always be in farming.
It was so funny, I started to sing "hey ho hey ho…" just before you all did hahaha.
    Stay safe ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป

  9. It is so sad and frustrating that systems break and cause expenses that you are not prepared for. i don't know what it would cost if you couldn't repair all this yourself. Hats off to you. I have stopped watching the many youtubers who just spend, spend, spend and have new toys all the time. It's obscene.

  10. The pipe MAY have gone flat if steel reinforcement wire inside corrodes and weakens. Doesn't take a lot to create a weak point and allow it to fold. Could be where something has rubbed against it on the inside or outside.

  11. Ola Alex,, I work with those pipes and on and of we have to change them because the espiral rings lose their stifness along the years and at some time cant handle the stong Vacumm and colapse (mainely at a level where they are not submerged in water)
    Your Problem was:
1.. the ruber of the retention valve started failing and got lose
2.. then it was sucked and partial blocked the pipe inlet
3… pipe is old and your pump is very powerfull,, and the rest is history
4… Atention because you created a very thin mesh , and you can really blocket like that,,, be aware that the tubine of your pump can easily deal with those small leaves (go and check the new mesh as soon)
    Abraรงo e felicidades p todos vcs ๐Ÿ‘

You ladies look fresh & summery for the drive into town. Great when you can score baked beans AND plant plugs ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ. Raised beds and gates looking smart!

Vm appreciate your sitting us aside to remind us to seriously consider fire risk always and worst case scenarios.

You're ok Alex… you can only figure out what you can figure out… the exact cause will expose itself at some point. You've taken every measure to solve the pump issue the right way at each point of your repair. Please try not to let all the breakdowns break your spirit. All the time spent was very well worth what jobs you were diverted from to fix the pump issue. We plan but Heaven has its master plan. [For too long a while i grieved as to what was Heaven's purpose in assigning my last exhusband… this may years on i can say that his chaos tempered my resolve to stay on my true path despite deep pain & despair. I'm thankful i muddled through succeeding pitfalls and am feeling delivered into a clear & calm i hoped for but didn't expect from getting hit back again and again. Also, i care for my elderly parent 24/7/365 with no days off. It's like shaitan is trying to make us forget how blessed we are and what a bright light we are to others by just being ourselves. So, what do we say to fugly face? "Not today, shaitan." ] Refreshing iced coffees๐Ÿฅคfor you ๐Ÿ˜‡. And baked treats, too.

  13. Nice pallet dyi work there!

I'm enjoying having more interventions from Sandra in the videos!

Fires are indeed terrible, and yes, I always get goosebumps too.

Your tank is huge! Mine holds only +/- 10k liters.

The Vegega garden beds look beautiful in that color. My only concern is that they might heat up too much in the sun, potentially impacting the veggies' roots.

I despise those spiders (well, I hate every spider!). They might be harmless, but they're way too abundant!

That Lister pump is magnificent, though it does require quite a bit of work. Your entire water system on the farm is impressive, but I'm sure it comes with a cost…

Regarding the upstream Pisco dam, does it maintain a minimum water level to ensure a consistent water source for you?

    The mesh solution is great!

Farming indeed presents numerous challenges that many people don't realize. Living in Portugal comes with its unique difficulties. The intense heat often hinders our ability to work efficiently. It's no wonder we seek refuge in the shade and enjoy cool beverages. Unfortunately, people in colder countries might mistakenly view people from southern countries as lazy…"
    Best wishes to you all!

  14. Living in Scotland I am the last to suggest anyone about living and working in the heat but would a straw hat and lighter top possibly linen shirt or T-shirt help you be a little cooler. Very productive video although I'm sure some jobs don't feel like that.

  16. I don't know about you Alex but I'm reasonably well protected all around my Quinta for fire but with it being so hot it concerns me if I would be able to be outside with a hose pipe guarding what ever I could because it would be impossible to breathe in the heat
