  1. That was the first scary movie I saw back in the 80s. Stuck with me a very long time. Never looked at our monstrous television the same way after that. Was even worse watching TV in the back room of my grandmother's creaky old farm house.

  2. this film wasnt very lucky for the kids in it , Carol Anne/Heather O'Rourke died at 12 years of age , and the girl who played the older sister Dana / Dominique Dunne was mudered by her ex boyfriend a few months after POLTERGEIST was released . Also, watch the sequel to this POLTERGEIST 2 it is actual good , you find out just who the beast was and why it wanted Carol Anne , don't bother with the 3rd film it was crap .

  3. The scariest thing about Poltergeist is the Poltergeist Curse in real life. Making the movie pissed off the spirits so much that it caused the deaths of multiple cast members including both young daughters who BOTH died so tragically. In total, four cast members died during and soon after the filming of the series and another murdered later on. The two young girls' tragic deaths were highly unexpected and puzzling, leading many fans to speculate on the movie's eerie implications. Heather O'Rourke, Carol Anne Freeling, the young focal point of the series, was only six years old when the first Poltergeist film was released, O’Rourke captivated audiences with her stark blond hair, doll-like appearance, and big, inquisitive eyes. Sadly, however, she was misdiagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 1987. The following year, O’Rourke fell ill again, and her symptoms were casually attributed to the flu. A day later, she collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest. After being airlifted to a children’s hospital in San Diego, O’Rourke died during an operation to correct a bowel obstruction, and it was later believed that she had been suffering from a congenital intestinal abnormality.

Dominique Dunne, who played the original older sister Dana Freeling met an equally tragic and unforeseen fate. In 1982, Dunne separated from her partner, John Sweeney. In November of that year, he showed up at Dunne’s house, pleading for her to take him back. When she refused, Sweeney grabbed Dunne’s neck, choked her until she was unconscious, and left her to die in her Hollywood home’s driveway. Sweeney was sentenced to six and a half years in prison but was released after three years and seven months. Julian Beck and Will Sampson -the other two cast member deaths, while unfortunate, were not as unpredictable or mysterious. The evil preacher Kane from Poltergeist II was played by Julian Beck. In 1983, Beck had been diagnosed with stomach cancer, which took his life soon after he finished work on the second installment of the series. The same film was met with further tragedy, after Will Sampson, who played Taylor the Native American shaman, died after undergoing a heart-lung transplant, Lou Perryman played Pugsley in the movie and he was killed in 2009 by Seth Christopher Tatum, who was on the run from police and had entered Perryman's home and attacked him with an axe. Tatum, who later turned himself in and said he had attacked Perryman because he needed his car and supplies to escape.

  4. I finally caught up to watching your reaction to this yesterday. And, as I knew….you'd get freaked out by it lol! That was great!😂😂😄 I saw this movie when it first came out w/ my Mother and one or both of my sister's (We were adults lol.). We went to this smaller 2 showroom theater for it as it was closer to our home than the bigger multiplex. Anyways, we are Spielberg fans and the trailers for it made you want to go! Plus, we grew up being into the Paranormal, so perfect for us.😀 I loved the movie, only and still do, just can't watch the steak on the counter scene and the one right after where the bad ghost makes the guy imagine the gross face thing.😨 To this day, I still love a good Paranormal Thriller ( Like the Conjuring) and watch caught on video/cam Ghost stuff here in YT. I know quite a few ppl have mentioned the tragic deaths of the 2 actresses. 😟
Was fun watching you for this one. 😄

  5. I think you handled it PERFECTLY. Bravo on an amazing reaction to one of my favorite movies (which, btw, scared the living shit out of me when I was a child (yeah, I was allowed to watch SOME scary movies before 10 – this being one, Creepshow being the other, then after ten around 11 came some of the Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street movies with a little Friday the 13th thrown into the mix – those ones took some convincing of the mother LoL). Anyway, thanks for never ceasing to entertain!

  6. I would like to point out (I don't think you fully appreciated the tree scene) the truly brilliant, evil, and full of malice the mind of the entity we come to know as "the beast" is. The tree was only a distraction, to leave Carolann unguarded, and easier to steal her away. A brilliant literal "power grab" from the antagonist.

  7. 22-year-old Dominique Dunne, who played Dana (the family's older daughter), was murdered. Dunne was brutally strangled in her own driveway by her abusive ex-boyfriend and was removed from life support five days later. Heather O’Rourke (Carol Anne) was misdiagnosed with Crohn’s disease and treated with cortisone. A year later, the 12-year-old became very ill and couldn’t stop vomiting. As she was rushed to the hospital, she suffered cardiac arrest but was revived. At the hospital, it was discovered she had an acute bowel obstruction, from which she died during surgery. Cursed movie me thinks
