  1. Eugene H. Krabs, the small amoeba's bitter rival for their near entire lives.

Sheldon J. Plankton stared within the cold, battered headstone which marked where the navy serving crab lied below. The bitter, unforgiving rain battering down on the ground below, as Plankton read the same words printed into the concrete slab marked with his enemies name.

"HERE LIES THE BRAVE SOUL OF EUGENE H. KRABS, HELD IN MANY HEARTS OF THE NAVY AND THOSE WHOM HE LOVED."
A small envelope was carried in Plankton's hands, purposefully shrunken down so he was able to read it. Strange, it seemed. Nobody bothered to make things easier for him unless he asked.

"To whom it may concern; Sheldon, we've held so many years of hatred towards one another over what seemed as stupid as a recipe for a sandwich. Knowing that I spent all of this time fighting with you over it makes the writing of this letter only more saddening."

As Sheldon read onward, he slowly began to piece together who wrote this and why it was written.

"Ever since my time in the Navy, my time was short, coming to an end. You've been fighting my own business for so long, I forgot why I even started competing with you. The injuries I've sustained were never going to to heal properly, and as of writing, I have little more than a week."

His eye welled up with tears as he read on, the antennae slowly falling flat against his head.

"I don't want to leave this beautiful underwater paradise with a grudge, Sheldon. I want both myself and those I know to rest peacefully after I go. Sheldon, I bestow you with the will of my restaurant. I trust you; you need to keep my legacy alive. We may have been hateful rivals, but I will never forget the day we met, the first birthdays we shared, the arguments and make-ups we experienced, the old days. I know you may not feel the same, but Sheldon, I'm glad we became friends. And I don't want to leave this world without letting you know that you mattered to me in my darkest moments."

Plankton read on and on, as tears of antipathy and solemnity dripped onto the paper he read.

"I disclose to you, old friend, the key to the Krusty Krab and the ownership of all that resides within it. Treat me boyo well, please, he's taking it harder than I expected him too. Squidward, not so much, but I can tell he still feels somewhat shocked. Plankton, despite the grudges we've held, I've always thought of you as a friend. I hope we may meet again soon, Sheldon. Goodbye, and good luck, friend."

    "Signed, Eugene H. Krabs."

The microscopic speck stared at the page intently. He didn't know what to feel, he didn't know what to do, he didn't know why any of this was happening or if this was just another elaborate scheme to make him feel like an idiot.

But below it, was a small key taped to the edge of the letter.

A gilded key with two "K" symbols engraved into it.

    He wasn't scheming.
He was just a friend in denial.

Plankton clutched the key to himself as he took a kneel to the grave of the old sailor.

    "Hello, darkness, my old friend."
He began to recite the lyrics of the song that was taught to him by Eugene himself when they were young, during his aspiration to become a sailor.
"I've come to talk with you again."
Each word that was brought forth had bitter sorrow behind it, leaving each sentence with a saddening drop.
    "Because a vision softly creeping…"
Each word that was sung reminded him of the glory days. The golden age.
    "Left it's seeds while I was sleeping…"
Each word that was expressed reminded him of the disparity he felt after their falling out.
"And a vision, that was planted in my brain… still remains…"

He took a deep breath, tears streaming down his face.

    "Within the sooooounds… *of silence…*"

Plankton left for a brief moment, before placing a red and green colored sea anemone on the grave of the fallen sailor.

    "May we meet again, Eugene."
