Pestily's YT Copyright Claim is Bad for Everyone, Not Just the Tarkov Community

Pestily’s YT channel received a copyright claim over the “12 Days of Tarkmas” parody. This is the most frustrating timeline I think I’ve ever been on and I want off of it…

  1. Yo i'm sorry for venting boys, but if you can't see it in my face, this is one of those ruinous "I feel like creativity is dying" kinda deals for me. It's SO frustrating that people can't just be decent to each other, especially over this kind of stuff.

  2. RooK has officially made himself enemy nr.1 of the Tarkov community. His song is literary a piano version of the Christmas Carol (which is public domain) with his one shitty singing and lyrics. It has no real connection to Pestily's song except the fact that they both uses the Carol as a base… He can't be stupid enough to think he will actually win any sort of legal fight over this, or even the internal Youtube check 😀

  3. It won't go anywhere, stop sweating. He made a parody song of a public domain song, pest made a parody song of a public domain song. He has no standing and the claim will vanish.

I dont make content to make money I try to make content to make people smile amongst other content creators but you can't tell me you didn't expect SOMEONE to be offended by it pestily is an insane individual. Enough said ❤ everything will be better I guarantee pestily has another masterful creation in progress 😁

  5. "12 Days of Christmas" is not 100% public Domain. The line "5 Gold Rings" as well as how that line is sung was added in the early 20th century, the Author of the song, Frederic Austin, died in 1952, therefore it is still under copyright protection by Novello & Co. until somewhere during 2022.

  6. Had a similar situation on one of my videos. Used a song that was made by a guy on YouTube whose channel sole purpose is to make free music that your able to use without fear. Well I got a copyright claim by this guy who make a “song” using the music…but it was essentially the ravings of a mad man. Like calling it music IMO is just wrong. More like your drunk aunt/uncle screaming about politics. Half the song was just played before anything original on the claimers track started. It was a bit funny but also infuriating when a video on my very small channel gets slapped around by people using a system that like you said is supposed to help safeguard creativity.

And really?! Claiming a Christmas song?! That’s just…sad…
