  1. Hi Descent into Darkness. I trust you are well? I don't know about you, but I love Japan. I love Japanese language, culture, cuisine and of course their history. That said Japanese history isn't exactly what you'd call squeaky clean. During the second world war there were countless atrocities that the Japanese military committed. Some of whom even make the Nazis recoil in disgust. The rape of Nanjing, the miss treatment of Allied prisoners of war and the infamous Unit 731.

But the topic I'd like to suggest for a future video is an atrocity the Japanese experienced at the hands of the Allies. If you go online today, there are no end of articles and debates discussing the efficacy of Allied bombing against the Third Reich. Particularly the allied fire bombing of Hamburg and Dresden that killed 40 000 and 25 000 respectively.

But hardly anyone ever mentions "Operation Meetinghouse" the American firebombing raid against Tokyo March 10th 1945. In just one raid on Tokyo, the USAAF leveled 14 square miles of downtown Tokyo. Leaving over one hundred thousand dead and more than a million homeless. More people were killed on this one raid than both Atomic attacks on Hiroshima (65 000) and Nagasaki (30 000) combined.

As mentioned before, not many people are aware of this. I hope you can play a part in changing that. Keep up the fantastic work, and I greatly look forward to your next video.

  3. I have been interested in the second world war and have and many films on it. I enjoy if that is a word to watch your channel. My father was in the Pacific fleet working on aircraft carrier escort class, he did serve briefly on one main front carriers. He rarely talked about it, even though he spent nearly four years in the theatre. But he did recount some of the horror when pows were liberated . He was also in Tokyo harbour when the Japanese surrender took place. Anyway I am rambling on but my question for you is how do you cope with looking and spending many hours pouring over photos and reports to some of the most disgusting humans that ever lived.

  4. When they say "I had no other choice, if I didn't kill them I would be killed"
Somehow I get that…maybe, but why the torture and the beating, that was not ordered by anyone.
And I HATE when I hear that he or she died a free person at the age of… What the F?!?!? Why free, they should have been through a lot worse than what they did to al those people.

  5. Well isn't this a pleasant surprise? I was just thinking yesterday how I wished DID would post something soon. And here he is! ๐Ÿ˜€

EDIT: Good for you, DID! For not posting unverifiable pictures. I prob wouldn't even have noticed but that's not the point – the perpetuation of half truths and outrights lies is unprofessional, to say the least.

  6. Brilliant as always sir!

There is a documentary that covers the photo album you mentioned. It has some photos that theyโ€™re fairly certain are of Hรถcker taking part in selections on the ramp. Canโ€™t recall the name of the doc though.

  7. Groundbreaking work!!! Again and again!!! All these small minded, but highly explosive people, forgotten by history… but not forgotten by the long dick of law!!! Thanx for this…i once lived in a town called Gรผnzburg, the first time i visited this pittoresque city, there still was a traffic sign, showin' me the way to the next whiskey bar, f**k off, to the 'Mengele Ersatzteillager'. I know, it's the 'Landmaschinenfabrik Mengele', located in some outskirts of GZ.
GZ has never denied any visits of Josef, after 45', great son of this town and so prolific, the whole family, they did the best for our city. GrรถรŸter Arbeitgeber all around, damals, today GZ is a town, when not ravished by the floods of the danubian river, very small minded, typisch 'kleinstadt'. People walking around, looking for the next 'Rad Bier'. The only sources of the Mengele dynasty, you'll find at the cemetery. Great gravestones, telling you and me, NOTHING…

  8. Very interesting and very sad. I saw a documentary about the mobile killing squads that were a pre- cursor to the gas Chambers and it was shown that, of the few who refused to carry out these orders, not one was executed or imprisoned. So the common defence of, 'I had no choice. I had to do it', is complete rubbish.

  9. I appreciate this documentary and learning about the lives of these monsters. Although, how come there are no pictures of Margot Dreschel anywhere on the internet? I heard she looked very unfortunate and very scrawny.

  10. So after being forcibly removed from their homes and family, taken to a camp and facing hardship, torture, and almost certain death. The jews focus was to continue to try to hide coins and jewelry in their body cavities??? Hmmmm priorities.
