Thank you doctor Snipes, I agree stress can be a trigger, covid really affected people in various ways recently and a lot of people were triggered.
I always talk to pregnant couples and new parents about postpartum depression and obtrusive thoughts with psychotic elements. I had no idea the intensity of this potential until after my twins were born, it was so alarming and terrifying at times, and very isolating it- most likely adding into the demise of my relationship. I didn't get help until after the 6 month mark, but silently suffered and was stressed out every day about it. I developed a bit of my own rules to make myself feel safer when I was alone with my children , but it was unlike any depression or negative thoughts I had ever had before. I emphasize to the Dad to check in with his partner and for her to be honest. I didn't want to go on meds because I was breastfeeding but ended up having a numbing collapse and checked myself into the hospital for 10 days, missing our 1st Christmas together. Just sharing it out there in case any new moms read this comment. Go get help right away bc it can accumulate over time like it did for me and compound into something much more dense than it has to be.
