Opening Labs & Turning Up Raiders – Is This a Good Idea? // Escape from Tarkov Change Proposal

Today we’re discussing the subject should labs be more accessible in Escape from Tarkov. The problem is in it’s current state of the game labs is in a bad spot due to a lack of worth for loot and high chance of cheaters on the location. Not enough players go there and when they do they don’t think it’s worth it more often than not, so it’s unlikely they come back.

Although I do sometimes get a hand from BSG and occasionally get to talk to Nikita or other members of the team, I do not work for BSG. I also work entirely off public information and past experiences of working in game dev myself, as well as following this game closely for several years. Unless I state very clearly otherwise, the information you’re about to hear should be taken as speculation. You can either get no information or speculation, that’s all we have to go off of these days unfortunately which is why it’s easier to just say Thursday whenever anyone asks for dates. If you want hard facts and dates you won’t get them, period.

  1. It's so sad that cheaters have literally locked down a whole map, BSG need to fucking get on this right now. Prettymuch of the issues would be issues if cheaters wouldn't exist, or would be much rarer…

  2. Pretty interesting thoughts. I'd certainly be open to Access cards with uses, like 5 or 10 uses per card. I've already gotten several daily/weekly quests to extra from Labs multiple times and I don't even bother attempting them because the cost is simply too high to bother with it.

Another interesting thought would be to allow your Scav to go on to Labs if it is going to spawn with a keycard. So you would have to check every time if you scav can go to Labs or not. Though I don't know how your scav's kit is generated so I don't know if that would even work.

  3. I quit playing this game today because of the cheaters. there is way too fuckin many of them ive lost all of my kits to cheaters within this past week

  4. no changes needed to labs, a change needed to the economy to stop the real money trade. Having items that quest lock you be a barter item for a case is not a smart move and is holding every one at one choke point controlled by hackers. It should be easy to spot hackers in the server code, abnormal code is easy to spot and people with extremely high kd ratio should be looked into… If we had a way of SEEING the aspect of the person that killed you it also may help show people they were in the open and if it was legit. Having a player based review is one thing if people reported correctly and I question how many reports it takes an average person OVER A STREAMER… hackers are also using TTV in their names and play in streamer mode. If you play in streamer mode you are less likely to be killed by a hacker because they know you have a recording and will get banned faster then killing some "timmy". Maybe labs should be the test grounds for raid playback, would be within lore to use security cameras and a body cam while in labs. I'd pay RUB for it every raid as an option like insurance and have it actually do something. Unless we get a better reporting system it will aways be the same and its not just labs. Shoreline and interchange also has its moments.

  5. BSG should buff all the card rooms on labs and leave the entry system how it is, but should crank up the cheat detection on that map somehow too, perhaps recording death clips for all players from killer and victim pov for manual review

  6. Every other keycard then black needs buff, I like idea where keycard to get into labs is infinite till you die. Also I in for making Labs more interesting for normal people. I was scared to go there for like 3 or 4 wipes so i totally get why people just dont wanna go inside.

  7. Labs is the best it can be because all the cheaters go there. Labs soaks up the cheaters so you never have to go there and be a lot more free from them. Same with super chads. Why would any normal player go to lab to contest the cheaters and the best players in tarkov, AND on top of that not have any keycards to open the rooms, so only for loose loot…..and also the map is a labyrinth and there is no way that you spend there enough time to learn it well.

  8. Here's my changes:
Key grinder(ability to make copies of keys) take time to make
(Would be cool if it was minigame) you won't know if you made a good copy until you try it.
This will allow making of keys that are (lower durability or something but like how keys used to be, unlimited)

Would try something with computers and duplicating [keycards] same principle

Would increase loot in keycard areas, 2x or 3x
Maybe increase the rarity found in those rooms by 1 or 2 tiers.

    Now to balance this:
Either increase raiders that are "looting" IE in each room OR
    In the Labs general area

I don't have a solution for cheaters other than Labs [or other maps] having a team "keeping" an eye on killcams
    OR
Make Labs a level minimum, account verification, or some other way to lockdown cheaters in general. I'd verify a phone/credit/ID if it meant that cheating was reduced.

I spend too much time playing Tarkov to have it ruined by a cheater.

  9. Up the loot in the locked rooms making it worth it for those who aquire the cards, labs shouldn't be a playground for crack heads who drink to much g-fuel or cheaters using their mom's credit cards, their needs to be balance, allowing free range will be useless unless you actually have keys which should be the point all the good loot should be tucked away but labs should be an errey environment. Would be nice to receive an in game notification that your report was acknowledged.

  10. Don't change how access cards work but make them buyable at level 3 therapist and turn the stock up to like 10 per person, per restock. Also buff all loot on all maps so money is not impossible to come by and the game is saved.

  11. Labs being more accessible will REDUCE the % of cheaters due to increase of % of average players. Effectively, diluting the cheater pool on that map with regular players.
This requires a reduction in entry cost but also getting insurance back. That's the only way lower level players will go to Labs… if you got your equipment back because the higher level players there and the cheaters wouldn't take your T4 armor, then you can keep going, it's a lot more risk free than even a regular map as long as you get insurance and lower entry cost.

  12. I think there should be quests on labs. IDK why there isn't, it seems kind of obvious, but just slap a few secure folders in there and send players off. It will absolutely increase the amount of players. But seriously, if cheaters didn't have free reign over the game, we wouldn't have this problem.

  13. The invisible player bug is SO bad for me right now. In 12 raids since the “fix” i’ve ran into about seven invisible enemies and 3 team mates have been invisible. Most of those 7 have been hard confirmed invisible when my buddies killed them and I couldn’t see the bodies.

  14. Labs = Permanently loose all gear, no insurance work. Change that part and more will play labs. I would play more labs and use all my keycards on labs if I know insurance worked like the other maps. But just knowing that I will loose 100% of the gear 99,99% of the time is taking away all motivation goin in there. Because of that I rather sell the keycards for rubels as fast as possible so I dont get any crazy ideas and actually enter LABS xD

  15. Why not just let labs be a purely PvE environment where it's just you (or your party) and no enemy players? Make the AI a little scarier to compensate and turn labs into a sort of high difficulty coop raid. People who want to avoid PvP will go there instead and they have to spend something in order to accomplish that.

  16. I really think the AI aiming should be improved, playing lighthouse is almost impossible because they laser you from out of nowhere and miss almost no shot, and on close range if you peek unknowingly they see you even when they have their backs turned and 180 tap you in the head, so that could see a huge improvement in future updates.

  17. What i would love for labs to be is a high difficulty pve area that you enter through other maps online. Now hear me out, you need to find the entrance by entering lets say customs and you still need your card or key to enter, probably a fight for that entrance with some guards or so + the expected pvp. The moment you enter with or without your party members you join a pve lab maps that contains high lvl AIs, like bosses, raiders, rogeus etc. Dieing there means you lose everything as it is.

  18. You can't convince people who exfilcamp and rat around to get easy kills by giving them cheaper or easier to get gear. They are there to make other people's day miserable, not necessarily just for the loot. That's for rats who intend to kill people in "cheap" ways, people who avoid combat aren't necessarily doing it to preserve loot. I do avoid combat whenever possible, when i have good stuff even more so. Why? Bc i'm just bad at shooting in pc games, and i know it. Just not fun to get into a fight with someone who kills you in half a second while you can't get a hit in, so just walk around areas where pmcs are shooting. It's fine for me to get caught off guard or like sniped all over the map, my fault for walking without cover. But losing a gunfight to a player who has armor three tiers higher than you and a silenced, super customised weapon with the best penetration ammo in the game while also knowing you suck at gunfights in the first place? No thank you. I'll continue avoiding labs even tho i have several keycards in my stash, just no reason for me to go there. I'll keep playing noob guns and having fun pve'ing or occasionaly getting a lucky shotgun kill against someone whos like 4 times my level and running around on woods or customs for some reason, but i simply dont see the appeal for people who dont sweat to go into areas like labs.

  19. split the keycards into days of the week, one card for monday, tuesday and so on.. unlimited uses, limit the raid to 3 parties or 4-6 players. Instead of raiders, maybe add terragroup security personnel rocking top notch gear.

  20. Just make labs accessable after a ceratin quest, or a certain level. Make it late so the ceaters cant get the labs loot early, make them "waste" time on their account just to able to enter labs. Labs should NOT be accessable early! Make it arround lvl 35+ ish. Or just mby make it accessable after you have done a cerain amount of quests on every map that is out there right now.
How you can improve the raiders on labs is to make them use corners more, make them lean arround corners, mby one guy is using "suppressing fire" and another pushes. Or smth like that
Ive played this game for 3 years now straight and the one thing i disslike the most is the access to labs early.

  21. the amount of bots in the comments thinking that a quest/rep or anything involved in the game will hinder cheaters from simply just rage hacking through the quest to get access , how about BSG actually puts effort into banning cheaters and not just making there game boring and dry as a way to "Combat cheaters" , and video should be more specific, any labs player would not play labs if there red/green/yellow/black/violet card has 10/25 uses

  22. Buff colored cards, keep loot same besides the buffed card rooms, turn down raider spawns unless someone presses a button, to incentivise more pvp instead of ratting in a corner cause they are scared to die to raiders.
