Once In A Lifetime Catch From A Remote Beach In Panama!!

Went beach fishing in Panama and caught a giant fish! Went with my striped bass/redfish gear on a spinning reel and threw a swimbait from the surf for a fish of a lifetime after touring the village of Jaque and Biroquiera.

  1. Thank you for visiting us and trusting us for this adventure, Elias! I hope to see you again soon, besides you have to go back to fishing in the mouth of the river, because we did not let you go a second time!

  3. Well, at least that tiny little plane didn’t crash! That’s the biggest snook I’ve ever seen! Congratulations, that’s a catch of a lifetime. Memories made on that trip.

  4. Awesome to be able to see your technique. Great catch and great way to start your trip. I saw a young boy catch one like that handlining at Pavones just across the border north of you. It was almost as big as himself. He was so proud. The entire village was hyped. It was a crazy battle with his older brother helping him a bit. Great memory

  7. I'm pretty sure the first fish was a sierra, or that's what Costa Ricans called them when we caught them. They're very good to eat. I lived in Costa Rica for 9 years and this video reminds me of being there. I miss it!
All snook are called robalo in Spanish but each species has local names too. The small ones with the big anal spine are called gualaje (wall a hay) and they are absolutely delicious. They bite little feather jigs and they're a hoot on 6 kb test.
The snook you caught was nice but not massive by local standards. I'd look into species identification because im not sure it was a black snook. There are several kinds that get big there, the blacks I saw had short snouts. The one you caught was maybe a yellow or white snook. They're all awesome and I'm jealous of yours. Beautiful fish. I did more offshore fishin' down there.
