Welcome to the first entry of the “Occupy Mars: Madman Diaries”. After a hair-raising escape pod landing leaves me stranded next to the ruined Alpha base, my survival now depends on my determination, resourcefulness, and engineering skills.
In this first entry, I’m forced to face the harsh realities of life on Mars. Equipped only with a jackhammer and a newly crafted blowtorch, I begin extracting valuable resources from the Martian landscape. However, survival is never easy. The day’s focus turns into a race against the clock as my water reserves dwindle down perilously close to zero.
In my scramble to construct a well in time, I overlook a vital component – an aluminium plate that I already had in my possession. This frantic search nearly cost me my life, a stark reminder of the unforgiving Martian environment.
Despite the close call, Sol 1 ends with success. With a functioning well providing a vital water source, and the adrenaline of near-death experiences subsiding, I can start to plan for the next steps. Tomorrow’s tasks are clear: Craft a grinder and explore a nearby base detected on my radar.
