I can't remember his name but he had to go into protective custody because some cats from Oakland were going to do something to him. During count time , when the CO got to our cell , he gave the CO a note. After the CO read the note, he immediately opened the door and pulled him out of the cell. They would put a tattoo of the planters peanut on their arm

I'm not from Oakland. Only been there once. When I did visit Oakland, I was in a neighborhood I can tell used to be predominantly black at one time. While there I saw a Whole Foods that looked new, people walking their dogs, biking and jogging. None of them looked like me. While we are still killing each other, them folks are coming in and buying up our communities for cheap and forcing the rest of us to relocate to places like Lancaster and Victorville down in SoCal. Oakland and Inglewood are becoming less and less affordable. California is becoming the gentrification capital of the US.
Oak town was so bad at one time the crips and bloods avoided it. During the super bowl, the dophins were staying in oakland. During a interview on how they would embarass the 49ers the gangster wrs of Marino learned how bad gangsters in Oakland were. One oakland thug yelled at the marks brothers “ ronnie lott was going to f them up”. Apparently the angered wrs glared at the speaker and lowered his sunglasses. Someone then wisely suggested The wrs not say a word as these hoodlums would kill them in broad daylight in front of the cops and media and laugh about it. Mark clayton based upon the a count of one of the Oakland police officers assigned as security, apparently, stood up and walked out not uttering a peep…….

RN the case members from the 80s and 90s are all locked up, but a lot of these guys had kids who grew up around the violence, these now young adults, call themselves the baby cases. The current gang they beef with is called stubby e.n.t
I always thought oakland had way more murders than that. I live in a city called regina,Saskatchewan canada. Its a very safe city of around 220,000 people. We have almost no guns. We have about 20 murders a year. 100 murders a year does not seem so bad for a city 5 times the size.
