Not for Me, but for Honor – Elden Ring 21

Caelid also isn’t a great place to come back to, I suppose.

  1. My perception so far of Elden ring solely from watching Woolie and Plague playing it, is that it's very similar to more hardcore MMORPG's I'm used to playing where the "Goal" isn't intended to be the Narrative or even "being a Tourist" through its ratcheting up of bullshit. Just cheesing it or barely beating an encounter does not prepare you. It seems to expect you to replay a set of fights over and over and over until you've SOLVED its messy puzzle at a S-rank level just like MMO raid Taxi minmaxxers would.

  3. 1:59:20 "there is probl'y good experiences in the game"

me, after having completed my 3rd playthrough, thinking of all of the late game areas: "Oh you sweet summer child…..you shoulda stopped when you had the chance"

  4. I have no idea why you thought Radahn is Ranni's dad…
Maybe it's because you still mix up Radagon and Radahn…? But you just read there that Rennala and Radagon had multiple children, Radahn being one of them, and you also know Ranni is Rennala's daughter…

Also no idea where you got that Radagon being Marika's son?

I hope you recover soon Eli!

  5. Happy to hear you're doing better now Plague, I've been struggling with depression for most of my late teenage & now adult life. At the time the things that helped me make it through the day to day was the Best Friends & Youre Videos. You have always come across to me as a mile manored country writer that is a prime example of never judging a book by its cover.

If you ever want advice on where to go in Chicago to get great Pizza while limiting the chances of getting shot Ill gladly be a guide!

  6. FromSoftware's next game should absolutely be "Fantasy world's weakest coward bitch baby defeats gods by throwing rocks and poop" to round out the overt mental masochism theme they're no doubt going for.

  7. Glad to hear you're doing better, you're voice definitely seems… lighter. Iunno, its like you attained some zen from getting through the stressful events and reaching out to people. Here's to more good things down the road.

As for Elden Ring, after beating it, it really is an unfortunate game since (without spoiling) it doesn't focus on its strengths and instead goes whole-hog into Miyazaki's creative fetishes. Honestly might be the last Fromsoft game I play since this just left me feeling empty

  8. I don't think there's actually any incest in this game. Except maybe for this one part that idk if you've seen yet.

Renalla and Radagon had Ranni, Radahn, and Rykard (boy do they love their R's)
Marika and Radagon had Miquella and Malenia
Marika and Godfrey had Morgott, Mogh, and Godwyn

Ranni, Radahn and Rykard are considered demigods because their dad married a god. Idk how that works either, nor if it had some tangible effect on them in their state of being.

  9. Most players play through games with the least resistance path, its why everyone and their grandmas played a stealth archer in Skyrim, and why everyone is running through this game with bleed builds. Its a negative overall on the game but I understand at least the first time or 2 going through Elden Ring in the "easiest possible" way. Regardless a lot of this stuff needs to get fixed. Kind of sad to already see this game's player base starting to drop off, I doubt FromSoft cares as they solid 13 MILLION COPIES, but some good patches and new content would be nice.

  10. 2:01:30 "Man I miss Dark Souls 1" – exactly my thoughts and I actually stopped playing ED to instead go for a calamity ring stroll. I think ED is a decent game but it really is weak in areas DkS1 is strong. I still remember my first crawl through DkS1, but I already forgot most of what I managed in ED.

  11. @35:06 🧐It was about 70k not 40. (unless it was nerfed). Using buffs you could get to less than 100k. Which I did, myself. I used the claws weap with bloodflame blade and fowl foot. (as an Int build at the time). The respawn definitely worked at one point. Too bad it's attack animations didnt truly work, the battle would have been legendary.

  12. 1:03:04 You inspired me Gripes to finish Disco Elysium. I've really enjoyed the game so far, I have 28 hours in it. But….😒I last played it 2 years ago. Just too many other things on me plate 🍽. I've gotta finish Death Stranding too (Last played in December, 10 hours in)😫. And I've got 233 hours in Elden Ring and not beat Radahn yet. So close!

  13. @1:43:05 Hell No. Radagon☯+ Rennala 🌕 = Starscourge Radahn💫& Ranni the Witch🌑. We know Rennala was only a Human. Therefore, for Radahn and Ranni to be demigods…their father would HAVE to be a God himself. 😏 King Pimp/Consort Radagon then went and married Marika. Radagon☯+Marika🌳= Miquella😴 and Malenia, the Blade of Miquella🔪

  14. As far as Malenia goes, not only is she probably the most bullshit boss Fromsoft has intentionally designed, she very well might be bugged as well. No idea if this is an intended mechanic or not but she's the only thing, not only in Elden Ring itself but in all Fromsoft Games that have this mechanic, to bypass the stance break mechanic. If you ever fill up her stance break bar while she uses a move with hyper armor she ignores the stance break and the meter is reset so you pretty much miss out on the chance to crit her.

  15. Plague doesn’t like anything and doesn’t like to learn or be creative. He makes snap decisions and doesn’t question his own judgement to consider if he’s been doing anything wrong or if he has a chip on his shoulder. It’s clear he doesn’t really understand how to use magic or weapon arts alongside other moves to be more effective and just looks at everything as a sniper rifle. Instead of using all of his weapon slots to expand his capability he just sticks with a knife on a stick and complains when doing the same attack over and over while face-fucking everything in the game isn’t satisfying and takes too long. He doesn’t actually like playing videogames, he just likes looking at them.

His purple cat doesn’t suit his personality at all. It feels like a character a teenage girl would design to be her OC’s boyfriend and not the kind of animal that would actually suit him. A boar would actually make more sense for his personality. It seems more like designing a sex fantasy character instead of an honest reflection of the person it’s supposed to represent. It reeks of sexual frustration and desperation for attention.

I've finally managed to catch up the progress you've made in this LP (still nowhere near lvl 150 tho)

  17. So in terms of overall atmosphere Caelid is probably my favorite area in all of the souls series. The bright red sky, the warped landscape, the rotted enemies, and the unsettling music were like a horror movie. I was very on edge while wandering around and I loved it. Glad you're back and feeling a bit better Plague, take care.

  18. This game is bad if you ask me. Souls is overrated ds1 was the peak. There are no novelty weapons for pure melee builds like the stone sword from ds1 which had tranquil walk on it. I keep playing these games with a regular sword trying to make them a poor man's legend of Zelda which they should just become. The one button dodge just solves to much of your problems I don't feel special just dodging unique attacks with one button just the cheapest. Sorry about the essay.

  19. Well, it's quite hard to take "honeymooning" and other such criticism from someone who's 150 before Altus, so I just check this LP from time to time to see if you still feel miserable here and unfortunately it's still true

  20. About Milicent, Withouth spoilers obiously:
The way things are located tells you Fromsoft REALLY thought player would USE THE ROADS and not go hicking with the horse.
    Obiously they mistaken.
But this expose how to reach Milicent withouth falling from the uper part is to use the road pasing the finger maiden, go around the lake, and come back up to Milicent, encountering another NPC on the way, it wasnt mark when it should as is Very important and easily misable, that is why i bring it up
Also, BEFORE fighting the general search FAR AWAY of the Marika statue, you would find a Unique sumoning sign that would help underestand the Invader Milicent.

  21. WHY no one use items!?
Seriously, less than 10% players seems to EVER use items actively.
Chicken feet easily +50% your base arcane.
Curated meat Make poison and rot SO much more manegable, so you dont need to depend on rare boluses.
Trowable yards cause golems (ims and giants) go berserk and attack each other.
Enchanted branch just Wololo and enemy.
Pot are basicly Fire ball version attacks withouth the FP cost.
Use soap to remove rot after roling on it.
Glow stones are healing aura set points, perfect for healing summons.
And remember, once a status proks, your resistans to it gets HIGHER so leting something prok, cure it, will make the next prok take longer.

  22. It is my understanding that Plague will not be continuing this playthrough.
    So here goes.

    1. Marika is Radagon.
    2. Gurranq is Maliketh
    3. All of the Gods (including the god of the Erdtree) are parasitic space monsters who all want to control/devour/destroy the world for fun.
    4. Except for the Moon which is like the other gods nanny or something.
    5. The entire plot from a cosmic perceptive is about one kid (god) bullying a bunch of other kids (outer gods) for torturing his personal torture ants (humans/giants/demi-humans etc.) while a neighbor (The Moon) is complaining about the noise and just wants everyone to go home.
    6. This will be deleted voluntarily if their is a part 22.
    7. Their will not be a part 22.
