Nikita: PMC Permadeath Possible – Community Podcast Recap – Escape From Tarkov News

Today the community podcast hosted by ironfists and joined by nikita, sigma, danexert, and geekseh was nothing short of interesting.

Today it was revealed that Nikita has been toying with the idea of a permanent death mechanic for everyone in Tarkov should they make certain mistakes, and he’s showing no remorse for it at all.

I APPRECIATE YOU ALL!

LIVE EVERY DAY ON TWITCH starting at 7:30-8AM EST – https://www.twitch.tv/onepeg

I hope you enjoy the vid!

  1. Permanent death sounds interesting. Though, it would make more sense if we had multiple pmcs per account. It would be lame to have to reset the account totally just because your character died. They could easily take some pointers from games like Hunt: Showdown if they were to take this path. Otherwise perma death doesn't really fit with the way the game plays currently

  2. if u were playing night time with night vision esepcially on woods, sometimes santa would come out of nowhere like a bush with a flashlight on and scare the piss out of you. And no u wouldn't know it was him until u go look and u killed him. Happened to me twice then a third time on reserve. Unlucky but like what can you do

  3. Sounds like a radiation zone that would kill you permanently would have to have loot locked to that location. No way anyone sane would risk their character for loot that can be found in other areas but at a rarer occurrence. Most players dont risk labs so they dont lose a kit to a cheater, why would they risk their accounts for a better chance at loot? My questions would be if you die in the area, would you continually get radiation until your character dies? If not people would just nade themselves if they have been in there too long. Would it be something that slowly builds overtime? Alot of questions to ask for sure.

  4. I might buy a standard account to play the deadly zone. Or then again, I might just retire from Tarkov for a good LONG while, because it's getting old, regardless of new maps etc. And this is literally a ploy to get people to buy alternate accounts to play that area.

I think they need to get more clever with this mechanic. Resetting your account, losing all your money, gear and supplies and having to roll through all the same tasks is a terrible gaming experience.

UNLESS, you actually have some measure of control over the outcome besides "well, I just won't go over there". Stims, meds, suits, masks to mitigate the danger. Ok, then you have some control.

  5. I see that you are wearing what looks like the ath m50x or m40x but which pads are you using? Ive been looking at getting the m40x and have heard that the stock pads are not too good.

  6. you can get shot in the face by a bullet that turns the insides of your head into liquid 10 times a session but get too close to an invisible particle once and you eventually die of cancer/radiation poisoning? What? How is that immersive?

  7. I understand the "cheesing skills" is an issue and should be nerfed some more, but I also understand why some players do it because there is no luck so they will do what they can to make w/e luck they can for themselves

  8. Yeah, these permadeath zones need to be 100% optional or that is fucking stupid. People like to pretend that the majority of players in Tarkov are these uber hardcore players when shocker…they're not. The majority of the people playing are casuals and ripping their entire accounts progress from them will absolutely kill this game faster than anything else. People can argue that shit all they want but that is the honest truth. The majority will NOT stick around and play this game if permadeath becomes an unavoidable obstacle.

There is something called as realistic as playable and that's something they're not getting. All these "grand" ideas are ruining the foundation they have built and they might as well just go full STALKER with all the sci-fi shit we've heard over the years. Personally, I think they're intentionally making this game as unfun and unplayable as possible so they can remove themselves from the project and shut it down. Their single-player game framework got way bigger than they expected and honestly, they just don't enjoy developing it anymore. They want it to die so they can move onto a less stressful single-player game with no servers and basically unlimited funding.

  9. Lmao wasn’t that out of pocket saying loosing rep from Santa is our fault. Most people kill him on accident. It’s not like Santa’s had a custom voice line or a way to identify him without seeing him.

  10. When I killed Santa he put a flashlight shotgun in my face when I rounded the corner on a pmc run when I was solo and was already in a firefight with other pmcs on interchange. Was getting pushed so I blew his brains out backwords and only after I could see his body did I know it was Santa. Wouldnt really call that trigger discipline would call that bad AI and bad timing. I've gotten my scav rep back up since then but still annoying didnt need the quest. But still its not always "did it to yourselves"

  11. So here's the thing. If they go with permadeath the game dies. I'll explain why. You'll have a few thousand players remain. But the majority of the people that play this game have life's to deal with so that limited play time will end up being spent on something that won't permanently destroy the hours they've already invested. 2 if that doesn't happen. What will happen is you'll see a scourge of exit campers like you've never seen. Because why risk radiation permadeath when I can let someone else get it and then clap them and scoop that.*fun right* 3. You have hackers that can fly, see what you have, shoot across map and through walls, negate damage. And you want to add a risk of permadeath.. lay off the Crack pipe and vodka then go fix your net code… oh even then hackers won't be stopped I mean look at war zone. Triple A title but still running over with hacks. Don't be dumb.. it's a game. You want risk of permadeath join the military and deploy to a combat zone.

  12. One thing i would like is that when the round starts normal doors (and maybe locked ones too but it would be really rare) would be open/closed, so people could not so easily calculate that someone has been in this place

  13. You're wrong about Santa comment and trigger discipline. Most people were affected by the glitched Santa before the December 27th patch. He shot at anyone who killed a scav prior to seeing him, I personally had to fight back 3 times when using expensive gear and let him kill me an additional 5 times when I was using budget kits.

The 8 encounters alone would be a -5.0 rep if I'm not wrong if I didn't let him kill me the 5 times

  14. That basically solidifies for me that bsg is getting a cut of the RMT bullshit currently ruining the loot pools. Those cheaters get banned often and buy a new account for like $3, so what do they care if they permadeath? That’d essentially double the amount of shit they can get.

  15. Permadeath needs to be a selectable "challenge" for those who want it. If he's going to try to "make it realsies", then it just applying to JUST radiation is straight dumb. If they force it on everyone, it will more than likely eviscerate the player base.

  16. perma death with radiation zones no problem duo team 1 with low lvl garbage acc one with main acc … garbage acc goes in gets items give the m8 this is done until the deadly disease is taken then reset account and swap roles … ez money … hope they think of a simple thing like this and find something to prevent it if not i will definetly do it

  17. Permadeath should never come to the game. That level of permanence is not only way to harsh, but it also makes no sense. My character gets shot 6 times in the head with an AK and can just heal up, but radiation permanently kills me? That makes no sense. Knowing BSG the map would be broken in some ways and RMT-ers would be the only people that would inhabit it because NO ONE would risk the hundreds of hours they put in their character (don't say " oh insert streamer said he totally would love that " those people literally play the game for a living). I am ok with more permanence in the form of Karma, but this takes it way too far. I will never even dream of risking it on whatever map they put it on, and many other people feel the same. If there were pockets of radiation that could kill you, that would be fine, but this level of permanence just doesn't belong in a video game. It makes no sense from a logical standpoint, no one would play it except for RMT-ers, and knowing BSG there would be some bug where it gives radiation to players it shouldn't or something like that. At least it might make the cheating problem on Labs less pronounced.
