No Orphic Hammer? Emperor Joins the Elder Brain | Raphael to the rescue | Baldur’s Gate 3 #shorts
In Patch 5, Larian Studios introduced character-specific endings and a special epilogue featuring a mysterious party hosted by Withers. These endings are unlocked by using one of the game’s Origin characters as the avatar, instead of Tav or the Dark Urge. For example, if Gale becomes a god, he shares a divine scene with Mystra after defeating the Netherbrain, and even has the power to elevate his romanced partner into godhood.
While Astarion, Gale, and Shadowheart are the most popular choices for avatars, unlocking one of the rarest endings requires choosing Lae’zel. Her tragic and elusive ending happens when she stays loyal to Vlaakith, fails her mission, and faces the difficult choice of suicide. Only 34 players have managed to see this grim conclusion.
With over 17,000 possible ending variations in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are still many secrets hidden in the game, waiting to be uncovered by dedicated players. Could there be even more obscure endings as hard to achieve as Lae’zel’s?
Find out how to unlock this rare ending and delve into the intricate storytelling that makes Baldur’s Gate 3 a masterpiece of RPG design.

This was honestly stupid. Just joining the neather brain…
i think i've figured out what larian was cooking here, i don't like it but i'll explain. important context first: as an illithid he calculates everything as probabilities, he prioritises his life then his freedom then doing the right thing in that order, he can't perfectly predict humanoid behaviour so relying on it is a risk to be minimised at all costs, and he lied about orpheus killing us on sight to ensure that he was invaluable to us and remained our ally for as long as possible. so with all that context, when we say we're gonna free orpheus it demonstrates that we're not fully under his control and could potentially betray him, and since orpheus knows the emperor lied about him to leverage the situation to his advantage he would never trust him and want to kill him, the only way the emperor is surviving that encounter is if after learning the truth we decide to forgive him and are able to convince orpheus to spare him, and once the brain is dead either we'd have to convince orpheus to forgive him, the emperor would have to kill orpheus and every githyanki that knows about him, or he'd have to go into hiding and pray nobody hunts him down, and since all of that is extremely unlikely from the emperor's perspective his best chance for survival is to join the brain. the ironic thing is that his best chance for survival would've been to propose an alliance with orpheus instead of subduing him when he first found the prism, that way nobody would have any reason to mistrust or betray him (besides being a mind flayer but everyone is pretty chill about that), but his insurance policy ended up being the thing that guaranteed his failure and his inability to trust humanoids is what led to everyone losing trust in him
