No, Mages Did Not Need Nerfing – New World

Following changes on the PTR there is a lot of discussion going on about changes and I am throwing my opinions out there.

  1. didnt watched the video… but the firestaff is horrible now on the ptr.. no doublehit with the fire pillar.. all the passives got gutted and after the rapidfire patch u cant even auto firepillar anymore (cant cancel)… why do they need to make a weapon clunky to fix the rapidfire… we have a nice firestaff thats fun to play and 2 patches later=here now you have a clunky firestaff but rapidfire isnt working anymore (: thats just so stupid

  2. So if I've got this right, life staff with sword and shield sit on point making everything near unkillable, while great axe and hammer users brawl and try to break through that state. AKA a massive clusterf*ck on point. Wow, such fun, not like I haven't experienced that in video games before (sarcasm)….

  3. My PvP is limited to duels, small scale open world conflict and outpost rush but yes, mages did need a nerf. I would suggest watching DemoneKim's latest YT video detailing why and GA not being as OP one would think.

I also find your video especially around the 3:00 minute mark to be highly hypocritical because not even a month ago you, duelist, unbe and Baggins were all talking about how bad melee was at launch. And it was broken.

  4. Sword is an extremely high skill weapon. I believe that's why people don't use it. Run 150 Con, 200 Focus 200 Str. Voidbent, 580 sword, rooks defense. reverse stab, shield bash, leaping strike. It destroys mages and has a good chance to take out healers.

Sword and shield DPS is slept on, and it's about to get even better. Also I do very well in wars, but I wouldn't say I'm a high skilled player by any stretch.

  5. Mages and healers were both fine as is imo. The problem with mages was the ice gauntlet. Ultimate Chill was ignoring all defenses and bugging for something in the range of 80%+ empowerment. It was basically two -tapping people in Ice Storm. But just as people say mages are op due to a bug, healers were also considered op due to a bug (resilience). But even though they die just fine now, people don't care. They'll link videos made before the patch still claiming op. Silly hoes

  6. Dude it's disgusting I was trying out some duels on the PTR in medium armor.. Strength GA build did light attack reap light attack whirlwind and I was almost dead. I can't run, because LUUUUUNGE. So yeah, GGWP.

  7. Really biased video. Your main argument is that melee does more damage….When ya. They are melee. Their combo potential should be larger. You see to have skipped over how kitting in this game is also borderline broken. As a "skilled mage" as you seem to claim, You forgot to mention your burnout, Entomb, Wall of ice. All coupled with potions and dodges. Your entire argument seems to be, Mage should have the same combo potential and kill potential as a melee while also having the added benefit of range and kitting in a meta/game that thrives on it because. That would make sense.
Mages should be fundamentally weaker then melee, its the trade off you get for playing a build that can put damage on the board at any range. If all mages had kill potential of melee no one would touch melee, We would be in some whack 17th century magic csgo where everyone is chucking fireballs at each other.

  8. I think FS or IG could have a passive that rewards hitting theyr light or heavy attacks like LS has. I think players who play mechanically challenging builds should be rewarded by doing those hard mechanically challenging things. This nerf feels like we r rewarding people who likes to press W harder than the other team and I feel like its just dumb, because that doesnt require any mechanics, not much brain power or little to none team work other than saying "1,2,3 push" to ur friends in discord. All and all kinda dumb ballanceing and I hope this doesnt go live.
