  1. Hey thanks for answering my Z8 / LED stage lighting question today, very helpful info. My plan is to go to Thursday's dress rehearsal for a good test run, then shoot the final performances over the weekend. Also reading up on the difference between High Frequency Flicker Reduction and Photo Flicker Reduction settings.

  2. Amazon offers the advantage of easy returns and occasionally 0% financing. I purchased my 20 f1.8 Z & 24-120 f4 Z during a Nikon discount period using Amazon’s financing and couldn’t have other wise afforded to. Amazon also occasionally sells refurbished items at a high discount. I managed to purchase my refurbished Zfc for $766 Canadian vs $1200 new. It was in virtually new condition and had about 70 exposures on it.

  3. I lost a few lenses to fungus over the years, now keep all my Z kit in a humidity controlled dry cabinet, fingers crossed that does the trick. Compared to a lens it was cheap to buy and costs next to nothing to run.

  4. On the flicker banding issue – I noted that the Z8 has a 'High-Frequency flicker reduction' feature in the Photo Shooting Menu, which I understand allows fine tuning to individual lighting situations – to dial out the banding. Have not tested it yet, but the fine tuning is extremely fine, and had to turn off for normal shooting otherwise manual shutter speed has a vast scale. This may help but goes it would need some time to set the right level

  5. I’ve got this crazy idea that Nikon makes this hybrid camera which is mirrorless but has an f mount instead of a z mount. It would have retro look and dials and be focused more for photography not video. I’d like it to be full frame, have ibis, 45mp sensor and priced under 2K. This would be aimed at all of us who still have loads of f mount lenses that would like to use them on a mirror less camera without using adapters, leaving us with a more handsome looking piece of kit that would be a joy to use. It would be the ultimate retro camera. I think it could co exist with the Z mount cameras. This is for having fun not pro use. You could use it professionally for sure but it would be aimed for us that just love cameras. Let’s face it, there are a lot of us. If it’s good enough and priced well enough it will succeed. In all honesty I’m still using f mount lenses professionally on my Z9, the old lenses are perfectly good. Yes the z lenses are technically better but only us photographers know the difference, clients don’t and there’s very little in it for them or us really, to do so.
