The game feels like a not fully cooked baked potato with bacon cheese and sour cream it looks amazing when you get it and even get a few bites in but once you hit that uncooked core you just eat around it with a sense disappointment
I honestly think that Bless was actually better than this. It had content to do, stories, dungeons, party finder, mobs diversity, combat combos but it also had all the other issues that you find in New World, which frankly, tells a lot about the state of this genre.
If we are at a stage where we judge MMOs by the fact that you can relax by gathering, walking for hours and talking with other people (because it has in-game voice chat) … that's just sad; and the worst part is, they've signed the distribution rights of Lost Ark, which is actually a great game, just to delay it so it doesn't affect their sales of NW; so not only they publish an unfinished game which they kept selling and delaying for over 2 years now when it needed 3 years more of work, but they've also purposely delayed the publication of a great MMORPG.
Well, on the plus side, I highly doubt they will ever recover the investment they made with this MMO and when they will try to push the stupid mobile monetization they already planned on doing, at least it will be on par with the timeframe for Lost Ark so people will definitely leave this game.
Yes I’m loving it and no que in my server
the game is flushed if you opt into the pvp. lots of combat not a pve thing unless you like hunter gathering if thats the case you will like it. crafting great market still slow as the things you make can be found all over in boxs making it hard to find what they want to buy. check out the pvp vids online they are realy good.
The less customization they give you now, the more they can sell you. 😀
Ghosts hitting you from miles away is realistic though.
Been waiting for your review specifically, thanks.
I bought it yesterday because my brother is really into it. I played the big test pretty extensively when it was up a few months ago. I like the Game but when I'm playing it I can't help but think this game is half of what it should be and feels like it's just scraping the barrel of what it can be. I really hope they double down and turn this into something fantastic. They could do it if they really wanted to
Definitely a money's worth, but I'm more "scared" of "pee-in-a-bottle" amazon and their shop in the future, but since its not a sub (for now) in any form, its gonna be fine I guess always getting a nice enjoyment out of it.
Hey if it keeps the woke off the street I'm all for it. They shouldn't really expect to have a full conversation without getting reported however lol.
This game is just so bad. I can't believe this came from amazon. You'd think with that kinda money they would have hired some real top tier developers. Needs to be in beta for about another year.
The crafting is honestly why I think ive enjoyed the game, the healing in dungeons isnt hard but could definitely use polishing.
Nop.
This game is killing RTX GPUs such as 3080s, 3090s, 3080 Ti, and 3070s, 2080 Ti, Why aren't you covering this in the title itself? There have been many reports/complaints from players about their GPU straight up dying during the loading screen of the game, Look it up. This game is dangerous right now.
Fun fact: It has been killing GPUs since July's alpha build and amazon literally made a statement, and the whole thing was basically meant to say, "It's your problem guys, f*ck off" not very nice of them is it. Play at your own risk
Well guess its either a skip or a buy on sale thing for me.
Combat looks bad, non existent content, no long term goals… yeee, kind of getting Tera vibes (even tho it had incredible combat back then) here.
the server problem is too many losers who dont have a day job and spend every day playing video games, Us real adults have lives.
there are times when youre critical of new world and i have a hard time agreeing with you (and thats my fault for having that inner fan boy for the game) but every video you have on new world critiquing it is always spot on. i appreciate you for putting things in perspective even for people like me that have that inner fan boy and need a slight reality check and a little help lifting the rose tinted glasses.
I don't understand why people play this over GW2? It may improve a lot and then get better, but right now it just looks like a weaker visually nicer GW2.
I'm having a lot of trouble liking it, tbh. Feels like a worse ESO. No queuing for expeditions (dungeons), pretty same-y quests, no classes, no different races, only 3 active skills per weapon. No mounts, no running. I tried being a healer and it was so hard, having to target certain people, and read that info when you're also in a fight when time really matters. Map feels disappointing too, just looks so… normal, not very diverse (except for corruption of course, but that's just 1 thing all over the place. It just feels really, simple, and maybe that's what some people are looking for. But I really enjoyed the larger depth of the class/skill/race system of ESO, as well as as the massive crafting system that game had with research/traits. ESO has depth I really enjoy. Just for reference, I am level 28 in New World. Maybe I shouldn't have held my expectations up to ESO, but I'm really struggling to enjoy myself thus far.
Just like other past mmos that had hype, this will last a few months and die off, leaving only the die hard fans remaining. Enjoy it while it's worth your time 🙂
they are all queing for hours that should tell you if its worth it.
Feels like they went all over the place with it, in some cases it looks like some people just couldn't decide or reach an agreement on how something should be and one dev did their own thing while another dev working on the same thing did something else.
I'm still laughing at how there are only 3 spell weapons in the game and the rest look and feel very practical and normal but then you have the 2h Axe which just allows you to rip a whole in the fabric of reality to create a gravity well and there is no way of wrapping your head around that (unless you get it stuck in the gravity well).
I know, silly thing to nit pick, it's mostly just funny but it shows how they probably had other ideas on how weapons work or talents in general, they managed to streamline most of them but just allowed an ability which is completely out of place to be used by the most unlikely weapon possible.
People who hate the game & trash talking can do whatever they want to say. BUT they just can't deny the fact that it has reached #1 in Steam Charts!
I think this game became the testing ground for Amazon Games once they bought the rights to make a new Lord of the Rings MMO.
It feels to me like they are just testing out what works for them and what doesn't before they go full in on making their "actual" MMO.
That being said, it's still playable and i agree with the vid.
A one time purchase and no P2W is refreshing……for now 😉
Though the bots are already starting to take over and keep actual players out from logging into their own servers.
Well going with that mindset, anything is good when you don't have expectations :'P
No

Combat system that's either ok or atrocious depending on your preference, sounds a lot like ESO
To me one thing that stands out is the no zoning or instancing. It's a continuous open world which very much helps with the immersion. So many MMO's are just instance, run 100m, another instance, big open area but a town is again another instance. It's so annoying.
Game can be fun but let's be honest.
Apart from the interesting mechanics like headshots or staggers, the combat system is boring compared to every other mmo.
People saying it's amazing or a really good experience are scraping from the bottom of the barrel. People comparing it to Dark Souls are deluded in that Dark Souls combat is nothing like New World, New World is more like Skyrim with a few additional mechanics crossed with moba combat with the small selection of abilities. Weapon swapping is cool but it doesn't serve to bring up the combat to a level that I wish it had.
The quests can be repeated from different npcs in different places. They never designed interesting quests to bring life to the world or connect you to the places and characters in areas, all the quests are, are bland copy and paste experiences pasted everywhere to fill up the world with 'content'. It's lazy and disappointing.
They obviously don't have many staff hired to deal with toxic behaviour as the global chat is always full of bullshit American politics like Trump and Biden.
New World is a mediocre experience with a great coat of paint to make it look better than what it is. The pvp could have been good but with flags turned off as an option, you aren't going to be running around tagged up unless you want to get ganked by larger groups or guilds who want to control farms and areas. There is no punishment for large groups destroying a lone player and no systems or mechanics to counter this, so I can see why they have flagging off as an option, because their pvp system always on wouldn't be fun at all for people who aren't in big conglomerates.
The area specific storage I feel like is an oversight leftover of the original game which was supposed to be a pvp sandbox. If I had a pvp sandbox I would add area specific storage as a way to funnel players into conflict that they may try to avoid. There is NO reason to have area specific storage in a game with pvp flagging because the entire point in it is to force pvp.
Amazon again, showing they have the money to fund a big experience but lack all the talent gathering or passionate direction an mmo would need to be a bigger experience.
Looks like lots of people are enjoying their experience… I've found it pretty mixed myself. The crafting is decent but it is a massive grindfest, with quite shallow content. I think many are within the category of thinking the game has potential, more than it being a great game now.
I'm on an original server and there's hardly ever a que, and a short one at that. It seems that the US doesnt have the same problem EU does with that
Lol the annoying parts, especially not seeing metal nodes on the compass, were not fixed. Wild.
If Amazon wants more customers. They really need to do something with their backend networking and adding more server locations. Ping times in this game are absolute garbage, I often get 2x higher ping than I do in any other MMO. Also any ping that is higher than 100 results in twitchy combat and rubber-banding. If you don't live close to a designated server, your experience is often subpar and frustrating. I ended up refunding because every time I would jump, climb, or dodge I'd rubberband and it made combat just a janky experience.
I’m addicted to the game in this current state. I can’t wait to see them update and release more content
I feel like it's a real reflection of how cucked and desperate people are that they will wait 4 hours in a queue and that's considered a minor negative. I'll be waiting on this one.
This game sounds like a singleplayer game, with the optional multiplayer content, with extra steps lol
If ESO had this kind of similar combat with no glitches for animation canceling, I should have never quitted. Now I'm having fun in NEW WORLD. ESO could have both an amazing combat & an amazing story line, what a waste!
Been waiting for this! So it's acknowledged that what you'll be doing at endgame is the SAME thing as what you're doing at the very start because NW is "content lite", cute way of saying barebones, but somehow for NW it's totally fine? Despite what was said about another game in a similar situation?
Don't rush thru or you'll discover that 90% of the quests are a joke, just pick flowers and enjoy the pretty pixels right? That's just one of the many hypocritical positions this video takes.
Need to post a side by side video of this video that just glosses over NW issues but somehow every issue is made into a big deal with the other game review and you have to be braindead to enjoy it if I remember correctly right?
Don't trash another game only to let another that suffers the same or worse get a pass. Have some damn integrity for crying out loud. It's not about having different tastes or putting different values on different aspects of a game, totally understandable.
It's disgusting though when it's a bias opinion, made obvious by giving similar issues very different responses.
🙂
If they add more servers.
I wont buy it. My estimation is 3 months in a significant portion of the playerbase will have dropped off. The current triple a video game environment is one of unsubstantiated hype. And the gamers love the hype and fall for it every time.
