I think this build is only viable at high level, with the right perks :). Imagine in war, defending you point and burning every guys on it lol.

how is this for pvp?
I have been theory crafting this build for the last 2 days. I believe that Incinerate and burnout are the only worthwhile abilities mostly due to the passive talents for heavy attacks with the fire staff. This will also allow you to refresh your mana without pots.
Go fireball instead of Meteor. They changed meteor because it was causing too much lag having a bunch of projectiles with hitboxes doing stackable dmg. So they changed it to do the same damage as flamethrower on the first hit and then less damage on each hit after. So flamethrower does more dmg and backstabs.
Fire ball is better than flamethrower.
Wonder if this kind of build would be tanky enough for 5 man content. Good info, thanks.
i've got like 100+ hours with this build , a bit more fleshed out, and its amazing even in pvp. u dont want any strength though just pure int and con , u want 160 con at end game so u can eat some food to get 200 con when u need to b the tank for pve. i've won about 90% of my duels ( i do clarify before duels to use consumables as being a tank its one of your biggest strengths, dumb to give that up) and with all the aoe, the engage , the cc, its great for group pvp.
also the flamethrower toggle from last passive is amazing as its one of the only attacks/ abilities that allow you to block/dodge while using the ability so u can be flaming a guy then just before his attack hits dodge, instantly start flaming again then dodge when he attacks and repeat. its a huge advantage to never be locked into an animation for attacking.
Have a similar build in mind with Swoard/Ice Gauntlet (maybe void gauntlet later). Love that kind of build in Heavy :). Good work bro =)

All respect buddy, but this build is completly horse shit.
But once you switch over from fire staff to sword and shield, don't you lose all buffs and passive effects, like the healing from incinerate and vice versa? Or did they remove that from the game?
It doesn't show in the video but stuns break on being hit and with that said does the burn dot remove the stun? Idk if you have unused media to reference? 😀

Thanks for the guide my son wanted to try a battlemage, one thing you don't mention is your actual attribute point break down like how much do you put in con how much into int and how much into str if any and what should put into first when starting…I would guess con?
