  1. I actually found Will Shen's personal email on a corporate database I use for my work. What would you recommend I send him if anything? Definitely not gonna bother with questions, but he might enjoy a witty fan letter with some cool references. Give me some ideas and I can update you here if I get a response 💡

  2. Regarding factions. Don't forget the earlier Into the Starfield Ep2: Made for Wanderers where Todd, Will, Emil, and Istvan talk about how it was possible to join the Crimson Fleet as an undercover cop. The reverse could be true. So I think that while it will be possible to join every major faction, Will and company also made sure there would be a logic as to why it would be possible. Also, consider he also said we can change a faction from the inside. It makes me wonder if we can have consequences like getting the UC and FC to go to war again or a more permanent peace.

  3. It’s worth noting that, regarding the factions, you could still do like 90% of the faction quests for all the factions in a single playthrough of Fallout 4. It was only once you began to hit the endgame that things started cutting off paths

  4. Like I said way back, look for the radiant quest design from FO4 to take a major step forward. Ta-da! Now as long as we don't have Preston Spacey telling us that another outpost needs saving…

  5. I've been hoping there were going to do exactly what he's saying with the radiant quest system. I love the idea of the radiant quests, but the execution has always been limited to cycling through a small set of locations picking something up from a chest that wasn't there before. personally I believe that being able to spawn dungeons across empty panets could be the missing peice to make radiant quests work this time. I hate doing bleak falls barrow first in EVERY skyrim playthrough, I'd love if the game could randomize the order and locations of the dungeons.

  6. Personally, I don't think Cydonia is the fabled 4th city… purely because he refers to it as a settlement. Its obvious that the cities in this game are huge. I think the illusive 4th city is the second "step out" moment Todd mentioned originally. And i think you discover it after you step through the finished gateway that the artifacts you're collecting make up. Sort of like daniel jackson stepping through the stargate for the first time… Or i could be completely wrong! Worth thinking about though!

  7. I was bothered by the idea of joining conficting factions at first, but I have a thought eased my mind about it. if you're barred from joining a faction they need to write and record all the diolog for that, and make sure that every interaction across the game responds correctly. across all of the factions that's like wasting dev time writing a whole extra faction just to serve as a berrior. In the past the answer we've gotten for that is that you can never join the raiders in fallout. what if this time around we're gaining the abilty to join the pirates, but instead of wasting delopment time making all the antagonist versions of each faction, we can join any faction and role play for ourselfs that we were the spy infoltrating them the whole time until we reach the quest that gives us that option. It's not the best answer, but if it means we get more playable factions it's a compromise that I'd be willing to pay.

  8. I wouldn't get too upset about the Factions set up in Starfeild; In Oblivion, you could be the head of the mages guild, the arena champion, the top fighter in the fighters guild and the top assassin in the Dark brotherhood. It was practically the same in Skyrim, with only the Imperial and Stormcloak factions being exclusive. Fallout 4 too, you could join all factions and "pick" a winner in the original eneding before modders allowed you to either you be able to have a general truce or the ability to kill all the factions (depending on the mod of course).

I can see modders modding a "faction reputation" system similar to FNV's karma/ reputation system and of course, the ability to create of build a faction/ company/ corporation. 😀

  9. Pretty sure Cydonia isn't the 4th city, Nate Purkeypile (former Bethesda dev) said it's actually more settlements than people know.. He said it's settlements on most livable planets I'm thinking the 4th city is alien race based after we piece the artifacts…

Also I wouldn't worry about joining multiple factions, I believe your joining as a spy and have to pick one after the artifacts pieced together..
