Bewtween this bat rep and a portion of MG's stream I caught where he talked about playing Recon, I believe they have essentially given an army playstyle for Catachans. Although we lost Straken and Harker, we gained Catachan Command Squads with scout/assualt, catachan hwt which I didnt realize also have scout. Definitely need 9 lascannons with this detachment. Also completely drop the tanks like you said. Run at least 80 Infantry and supplement with Armoured Sentinels w/ Lascannons for anti tank. I think there's not only play with taking 1 large 10 man hobbit squad and a single 5 man squad to do infiltrate hobbit jail, but its best in slot. This detachment is all about board control. 10 hobbit squad for 100 doesn't hurt as much and they can do the -2 charge thing with the grenades keyword. It also completely denies scout armies and screens for a turn (only weakness is jump troops). Great bat rep btw, this also showed that Sly Marbo still has play as an annoying grenades/move shoot move/action trooper. Still a one man army. Glad he's a budget 55. I also think there's play in 20 man blobs led by Catachan Command Squad + Nork Deddog/Ogryn bodyguards. The blobs just last so long because of 3+ saves and volume. Get some + 1 to wound 'Uge Knives attacks as retaliation could do some work. Lord Dreir as well could be a huge counter punch. A few 5 man horse squads of each variety for counter punch/ screening units. Recon has a LOT of potential. Even with removing cover, having on demand FNP for infantry and cavalry. Every unit should have Keyword: Infantry, Mounted, or Walker.
