So Mortal Kombat 1 has been at San Diego Comic Con and we have gotten plenty of news about the game! From some new trailers, and new info about the game directly on site we got some juicy tidbits and info for you so lets break it all down, from the gameplay in the trailers and also some character lore and story!

  1. So we got a heck of a lot of new Mortal Kombat 1 info, so time to break it all down! Li Mei Returns, Tanya has like, the power of the gods!? And Baraka is legitimately the coolest he has ever been. If you told me i'd be hype about baraka before all this, I would call you a liar to your face yet here we are. Lots of goodies including drummer boy goro so give the video a watch and post in the comments below what you think!

    I was honestly dreading his return, but have now done a 180 ^^

  3. I hope Homelander gets other members of the 7 to help out in his moveset, that could be a good way to differentiate the two Superman analogues.

    it’s 100% antony starr. zoom in on Homelander’s face and take a look at the eyes. they captured his 1000 yard stare perfectly.

    I pray we get Animalities back. with the way animations are nowadays, we could get some gnarly transformations (think of Kotal turning into a panther in 11) and absolutely brutal kills. maybe make them less of a joke!

  4. Nicholas Cage needs to be DLC. The possibilities are endless.

    He could even be Johnny Cage's estranged brother or something. And he definitely has to use "The Bees" as a fatality.

    Another Fatality… he takes his and the opponent's Face Off and swaps them… you know… like that movie… what was it… Snake Eyes?

  5. None of these guests fit the game. Same how Robocop and Terminator and Rambo didn't fit but somehow even more.
    But that's okay, means I don't have to buy the KP1 and just pick up the base game, cheaper for me.
    As for the reveals for the base roster: Li Mei and Tanya join Kitana and Mileena as "characters I wanna try when the game launches" tying it iwth SF6 (Cammy, Juri, Kimberly and Chun Li who I'm currently playing), and putting it ahead of Tekken 8 (with only Jun revealed so far) so no complaints here. Here's hoping Jade makes it in (hopefully as a playable character) but I'd also take Skarlet or Ashrah or any of the 3d era ladies (minus Nitara cause she'd probably fly and hover, see one of the reasons I dislike superheroes in fighting games).
    Also, stages look EFFING BEAUTIFUL… so overall impressions are positive (minus the dlc but I kinda expected that).

  6. Honestly, Goro having his unblockable stomp as an assist, is both hilarious and terrifying at the same time. Hope they know what they're doing by allowing unblockable setups like that, lol! XD

Dying, Scorpion urges his younger self to abandon vengeance and defend Earthrealm. The younger Scorpion joins the allied forces of Earthrealm and Outworld to stop Kronika.[38][39][40]

    In Mortal Kombat 1, the playable version of Scorpion is in fact Kuai Liang, while Hanzo Hanzashi version of Scorpion is an assist-based kameo character.[41]

  8. Honestly, one of my biggest gripes with Mortal Kombat (and NRS in general) in recent years has been it's gameplay animation. (Basically everything that wasn't the actual attacks in the match were animated beautifully.) While the games are typically pretty fun, it felt like NRS was just too reliant on motion capture for their animations. Sugarpunch Design Works made many great videos covering the animation of MKX, MK11, and Injustice 2 and why they generally fail in most aspects. If you want a prime example of bad MK animation, look at stuff like Terminator's D3 in MK11, or Kitana's D3 in MKX.

    But, looking at these trailers… I'm actually pretty impressed. One problem in past MK animations was the way a lot jabs looked like the character was punching over an invisible fence. (Shoutout to Sugarpunch for that amazing visual.) However, I haven't really been noticing too much of that problem with MK12. On top of that, it feels like there's generally a lot more effort to have distinctive key poses, characters seem to be actually bending their knees when kicking, and more general improvements across the board.

    It isn't all better, though. For instance, the moves that Scorpion has where he uses the Kasari Gama (Probably spelled that wrong lol) were mostly below average in my opinion. But aside from that and a few other minor gripes… It seems like they genuinely cared about improving their animation in this game??? It feels weird to say that considering how much they seemed content to just stick with their style and continue to pump out mediocre animation, but here we are.

    At the end of the day, the only way to see is to wait until the game comes out. Either way, whether they actually improved or not, just know this is all my opinion. I'm not stating objective fact here, I'm just some idiot trying to write an essay on a game she hasn't even been able to play yet. I'm also not much of an animator myself, I'm just using criticisms from other people on past MK animation, applying them here, and formulating them into my own words. Whatever is next for this game, I hope you all have a fun time with it. <3
