  1. For people who may not know better, the correction officers can't just immediately interfere.

It's like 1 CO to anywhere from 60-150 inmates depending on the facility. They are trained to not get anywhere near something like that.

The protocol is usually setting the alarm and/or calling it in on their radio, Then at the most shouting demands or maybe using non lethal weapons from like a minimum of 25-30 feet away if not nowhere near the violence including behind a locked door or command center not even in the block until backup arrives.

Even when backup is there they won't jump in on a situation like that when it's still going 100% etc. That's why they carry those pepper spray cans that shoot a massive thick ass cloud like 20 feet for 10 seconds and those beyond painful rubber bullets.

Then once it calms down and the perpetrators finally give up and get down on the floor the CO's move in.

  2. Letting prison inmates interact with each other is the dumbest idea the justice system could’ve ever came up with. Maybe let them talk through wire but not freely interact. The only interactions should be with councilors, other staff, and maybe work crews who are inmates bc I also believe they should be forced to work and pay back their debt to society. Letting criminals get together and wondering why crime happens is beyond idiotic.
