My Thoughts on Mario Kart's Wave 3 Before Release

I am so HYPED for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass coming out tomorrow!

I think this wave might very well be the best wave of any of the waves. With the graphics of most tracks being exactly what I want, to the tracks themselves being great choices and such.

This video has me rambling on about my opinions of the wave, and some other topics sharing my thoughts and criticism of the booster course pass as a whole!

Eexpect a video sometime soon of a middle review of the booster course pass! Subscribe for more content for nintendo games!

  1. A complaint is that the base game looks to good? Honestly thats one of the best complaints to have xD To me the base game visuals is more of a prositive cause it still had vibrate style that had a lot of detail.

  2. i agree, toad circuit and mc 3 look crappy in 8. something that contributes a lot to it is the background in my eyes. theres literally nothing going on but yoshi and toad cheering on blocks which is pretty bland. and in the same game from 8 years earlier you have donut plains 3 which has a pretty skybox, great visuals and a HUGE unexplorable (without mods at least) area behind which is upsetting because there are no awesome background/hidden areas in the bcp as compared to base 8, maybe excluding the tour nitros

  3. and the thing with rock rock is that it doesn’t even look that bad. the worst thing about it is the ridge on the mountainside. but because you drive by it and it is such a huge thing, it makes you think the whole track looks bad which i disagree with. i will agree that it doesn’t match mount wario mountain tier, but it’s not as bad as people say it is.

  4. I know people don't like rock rock mountains art style. But for some reason. The tour art style doesn't bother me. I know it's weird. But I'm kinda used to seeing the more colorful art style then the realistic one. (I'm gonna get hate from this am i?)

  5. To play devil advocate…we know what Nintendo can do. Look at the base game. Now to be fair, we don't know what team is working on the tracks or the time/budget that they have but Nintendo SHOULD be held to high standards because they proved themselves with visual fidelity and detail. Again, look at the base game

  7. The leaks, they were correct except for one course. Maple Treeway was going to be a different course, a course that has been a fan favourite from the Wii that wasn't a nitro course back in that game. But I think the issue is that the course they were going with hasn't been made in Tour yet and is pretty much down to development issues. That's why we got Maple Treeway instead. Either way, I think the leaks are still a good indicatior for what courses are coming… even with that minor hiccup. True, the first 3 waves has no Double Dash courses but don't worry, Nintendo is definitely going to focus on that for Waves 4 to 6. EVERY mainline Mario Kart game is represented, no Arcade spin-offs and no Home Circuit.

Tour is technically classed as a spin-off but people including me say that it is Mario Kart 9. True the visuals are cartoony in the Booster Course Pass but it is a little bit realistic in some way. Remember, we are getting 48 courses in the Booster Course Pass by the end of 2023. This is another Mario Kart game on top of 8 Deluxe in terms of content. For a game that I would call as an evergreen game*, a game that never dies due to popularity and sales (think *GTA Online and The Sims 4 as examples), I definitely think people will get use to the art style once more Waves gets released. At least it is not cartoony with eyes on trees and mountains… I'm looking at you Double Dash!! The best way for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to get better after the Booster Course Pass is very simple… add new drivers, vehicles, wheels and gliders. Mario Kart Tour is a mobile game and unlike the console games, app games do get delisted after a while, so the Booster Pass is their way of preserving that game. Nintendo knows what they're doing and I think we should be greatful for keeping Mario Kart alive. Also adds an excuse to get people to buy the NSO Expansion Pack and also as a way to know that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is popular and will not die. A new generation console release is the only way to move the Mario Kart series forward. The new generation console after the Switch really should include backwards compatibility.

I am looking forward to Wave 3 in general. The 8 courses are great and I do have a bit of an idea for ranking. There isn't really a bad course in this wave, so this is my order from 1 to 8 (Best to Not Terrible)…
    1. Wii Maple Treeway
    2. 3DS Rainbow Road
    3. Merry Mountain
    4. Tour Berlin Byways
    5. Tour London Loop
    6. GBA Boo Lake
    7. 3DS Rock Rock Mountain
    8. DS Peach Gardens
