  1. Excelent video. Thanks for publishing. And a big thank you for pointing out that Brinckley is the sole exception – many would not give that information. One request- I had to turn the volume up very high to be able
    To hear you

  2. Your video popped up on my feed and why am I not surprised that the rig with problems is a Grand Design! I am relatively new to RVing and I was under the impression that GD was a quality manufacturer. With your experience and those of many others, I don't think that anymore!!

  3. Thank you for your information, Though the people at Grand design treated you well it doesn't make up for shoddy workmanship and under designed vehicle. You're not the only Youtuber that is reported numerous problems in shoddy workmanship in construction with grand design which was f a company that used to be good. Unfortunately it has fallen down to the standards of the rest of the major three rv manufacturers. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a new rv at this time until quality of the workmanship and the construction of these vehicles get to the point where they actually stay together.

  4. a lot is about money and competition. if they build them more robustly, the price goes up and then nobody wants to buy them and they shop at a competitor who is cheaper. you have seen one or another video where people have to change to better tires because the ones that come with them are not strong enough, such as punctures etc. all to keep the price of the trailer down

  5. I have a 2020 Forest River Impression that has the same issue as well as a frame camber issue. Getting nothing but a run around from Lippert and Prime Time Industries. Was told not to pull it by a local repair company. Dangerous indeed

  6. This and many other negative videos about grand designs and frame problems are the exact reason why I chose to buy an alliance paradigm. Thank you for divulging that there is a problem with grand design products.

  7. The frame manufacturer makes the frames to spec. They'll make them as strong as an RV manufacturer is willing to pay for. The problem is that the RV manufacturers overload the frames because they don't want to pay for stronger frames. It would cut into their profit margin. Someone is going to get killed for the sake of their profits.

  8. My dads 2018 GD had the subframe collapse above the shackles. I replaced the subframe completely with 1/4 x2x2 and reinstalled the suspension.
Just a couple of runs to Texas from Wisconsin.
His 2014 needed the front frame beefed up because the hitch was sagging several inches and hitting the cap.
They offered to pay me for my time and material to repair these defects after I provided documentation.
I run a fab shop so that helped.

  9. We have a Grand Design Imagine 2500RL only because we couldn't get a truck for a 5th-wheel during covid. We have had slide issues, refrigerator, water heater, floor defects caused by lack of quality control, etc. Most of our first-year ownership was in the shop. We canceled at least 3 trips losing a little deposit every time. All this time used up our warranty but in reality Grand Design doesn't care about customer service in my experience. I was even told I expect too much since I didn't spend a million dollars. Funny thing is I don't think they sell anything that's a million dollars. We won't buy another Grand Design & we are looking at Brinkley for our next upgrade. When we first seen Brinkley it impressed us so it is at top of our list unless we decide to go motor coach instead.

I feel lucky compared to your issues but when I was told I expect too much from a brand new Travel trailer my mind was made up to find a better alternative for our future 5th wheel. RV manufactures don't seem to care even though many influencers sing their praises like they not only care but go above & beyond. I will never listen to a influencer again on what to buy. Unfortunately during the time we bought wasn't even much inventory to look at so we were forced to look at reviews putting more trust into manufacturer claims, influencers, dealers, etc.

Thanks for the honest information I really wish I found more info like this before our purchase.

  10. While it should be engineered to endure, I struggle to understand hauling around a enormous unit like this. It just seems like a recipe for disaster. They are just too cheap to be made well.

  11. We ditched our Grand Design Reflection 303rls Fifth Wheel a year ago. After dealing with Customer Service giving us the run around over and over. And the CEO told us at the RV Tampa Show that don't be bringing it to their place in Indiana. We had daylight through walls, kitchen sink falling through and cabinets flying open and one drawer crashed and broke. We ended up with another brand. And the difference between Grand Design and our new RV is like night and day. Customer service is amazing. We had broken spring Hangers over and over. Lippert came to our house and fix them. Lippert said that they just make the frames to the different brands specs even if they don't agree. Lippert needs to stand up and say "no way and makes the frames the way they should be.

  12. So sorry this happened to you. What year is your rig?

Looks like my list of possible RVs just got smaller. This is a unit that I was very interested in buying. I guess I'll be looking at Brinkley a bit more now.

  13. Those pictures showing the welds on the new reinforcements look absolutely horrible! It looks like something done on the first day of 9th grade shop class.
You never followed up on why you had to return to Fl.
I'd be looking to dump your RV sooner then later. Whatever bridge you had between you and GD has been torched so you'll not be getting anymore repairs done by GD and you'll be needing more fixes by the looks of those shoddy welds.

  14. I feel for you……..I've gone through the frame failure myself as I've mentioned before except Forest River basically laughed at our situation and said too bad to sad, not our problem now. It explained why the exterior screws on the front of my previous 5th wheel were constantly backing themselves out, but the dealer couldn't figure out why. With our current/new 5th wheel, I am always holding my breath for when I get out of my truck after towing for what I am going to see on the camper/5th wheel. So far, after 1 year the camper/5th wheel seems to have held up. I'm always nervous and always checking the exterior fiberglass on the front of the camper.

I can't wait to hear about the story you're going to tell next week.

  15. We just on Monday, discovered that our frame is cracked as well. We contacted the dealership because our camper is still under extended warranty. Getting the run a round. Can't get through to Keystone. We have had this camper for almost 3 years and we have had nothing but issues. Broken awning arms x 2, replaced sail switch in the heater, replaced the water pump, slide-out issues where the wiring was bad, and now this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a certified welder come and look at it and he said it was so bad, he wouldn't even touch it. I want this fixed, but I think I may need to get an attorney involved. Trying again to get something done again tomorrow. I am almost ready to just give up camping. 🙁

  16. I feel if 'GD' cares about their reputation then they should want to make thing's right with their customers. I've seen countless videos of peopel speaking about their 'GD' rigs frames cracking. I would never purchase a 'GD' product !!! 🙄
