My Chevy ZR2 is Broken Again. Axle Replacement. CV boot.

This little project Ive been putting off for a while now, and i finally built up some of the motivation to do it. I had to replace a bushing on my CWF upper control arms, and swap out a torn CV boot. Only problem is that i broke something so dumb and small, that i required a new axle to get the truck back on the road ASAP. 🀬

  1. well, I was wondering if I should mention that after I went to Tennessee for thanksgiving, I checked my cv boots. well on my passenger side I had a small hole in one of them it wasn't tore it was like a 1/4-inch hole. kind of embarrassing after I bragged how good I thought the peak boots were .so that evening I ordered 2 new sets of boots from peak. they actually gave me 10 percent off but that's not much when both sets with tax are a little over 100 dollars. That night I didn't sleep well thinking about it so in the morning I called my chevy dealer and ordered the chevy performance ball spline half shaft. They just came in today, so I went and picked them up and they are very heavy duty looking and actually a bit heavier than the stock ones from what I Rember. they claimed they are for leveled and lifted trucks and heave off road use they are on the hall racing truck, so I am hoping this is the last time I have to take all this crap apart. I still love my truck. That being said when I looked at the axels at the dealership, I said didn't they come with a packet of Vasoline. well, that went right over the old guy's head but a girl working the counter next to him busted out laughing and asked how much they were I said $5307.23 she goes oh shit is that for real and the old guys says yep.so I feel your pain of taking it all apart again I will do mine this weekend and I hope I have thrown enough money at it to never do it again. I only have 13000 miles on the zr2. I did that truxxx 2-inch level lift kit and I won't lower it because I like the way it looks and get all kind of complements on the truck. my front fender is at 41 inches. You said you had heard the dif drop might cause issues I read somewhere that chevy sells a dif drop I am leaving the dif drop in because it changed the angle about 2 degrees i think when I did it. I also got the new peak boots the other day and will replace the boots and keep the axels for spares when i go out west next summer but i hope I don't have any more issues. at least I don't feel alone. Oh when the 1st set of boots failed my dealership said they would change them under warranty, but they would be putting the same crappy boots back on. I told them I had better boots, but they said they would have to charge me to do it if they weren't oem boots and that it would be 600.00 so i did it myself. well, it looks like I am writing a dam book I will talk at you later

  2. I was rewatching this vid and wondered what you think broke your dust covers I recently put roga shock skids on mine but had to take the dust covers off for them to fit. I am planning on getting some shock bellows to keep them from getting dirty and damaging the seals I believe the high-performance long travel dssv Multi Matic shocks have bellows on them. my Toyota has bellows on the shocks and I never had a shock leak because it keeps mud from getting in the seals. but what I was interested in finding out was did you actually take out the dif drop.
