My 2024 AFL Predictions

With less than a week until the AFL kicks off, and somehow even more time until Round 1, it’s time for me to dust off my crystal ball, throw it in the bin, and wildly predict what’s going to happen via a series of uninformed guesses.

Just like last year, you too can get involved by commenting your predictions below.

  1. Adel, Carl and GWS the interesting ones for me. Carl have the list for a top 2 but can they get their act together? GWS also have the list for a top 4. Sadly I don’t have that much faith in Adel. I’m tipping disappointment and missing finals

  2. As a Collingwood fan, I don't quite see us going back to back but would be happy with finals. Again the lack of quality talls is a concern (even if McStay does a Krakouer/Goldsack and heals quick enough to make an 11th hour cameo, he's likely not going to be at his best), but I have had doubts before (especially last years granny) and been proven wrong, so who knows?

I see Brisbane getting revenge for the premiership, but a few other teams (Carlton, Sydney, Melbourne) look likely too.

  10. I am a little less optimistic when it comes to my team, the Geelong Cats.
Last year exposed loads of weaknesses of their longevity of being in the finals for so long since 2004 and their Premireship years seem to be long behind them now after the retirees of the past year.
I think the Cats can get up to 10 wins for the year and a first full crowd at Kardinia Park since 2019 will help with that.

  11. I don't see how you can see the Giants falling because their best player has entered his 30s when Taylor Walker is nearly 34 and kicked proportionally more goals for the Crows than Greene did for the Giants. It's more likely that Walker will drop off and that'll put more pressure on the other forwards leading to a decrease in the Crows scoring.

  12. 1. Brisbane
    2. Carlton
    3. Collingwood (obviously not a big slip but im trying to spin the pieces a bit)
    4. GWS
    5. Adelaide (super not confident on this one but need a big rise for the old fox footy algorithm. My gut feels more 7th)
    6. Port
    7. Geelong
    8. Bulldogs (gotta be different dont we Footscray)

    9. Melbourne
    10. St Kilda (not wishing ill but i have to pick a couple drops. Id pick Port but every time i tip a fall they finish top 4)
    11. Sydney
    12. Gold Coast
    13. Hawthorn
    14. Essendon (im actually way more keen on their list than this suggests. Just someone has to take this spot)
    15. Fremantle
    16. North Melbourne
    17. Richmond
    18. West Coast (casualty ward already piling up. I see improvement on percentage not wins)

    Premiership: Brisbane

    Runner up: GWS

    Rising star: George Wardlaw

Coleman: Bugger it… Tex. Going a left field (for the odds anyway) patriotism. If he stops handing so many to Ben Keays and co he might get there

    Brownlow: Tom Green

Im feeling less and less confident every time i read this. Good luck Gaz and looking forward to the Crom vid on the way

  13. I'm a hawks fan and not that optimistic.. bottom 4 for us, I'd swap us an essendon. Essendon is harshly rated here imo. Dogs too. Yes the dogs are horrible at getting this shit together… but still… talent wise a top 8 side.

Port will make the 8 easy. They have enough talent. But harsh to say Gerogiades has "been missing" dude was out all year with his knee.

It's a really weird ladder. I'd like to know how you come up with it tbh. Could be better, but could be worse.

  15. Have the top eight pretty similar to yours except, I’ve got Geelong missing and GWS in the lower half of the eight.

    Geelong
    St. Kilda
