  1. I haven't watched it. But Block Island was one of my favorite vacations. We were in a room with no AC. We went to an old movie Theatre to see "Snake Eyes". And listened to mix tapes. And there was an old Book store. We had a great time. Beautiful place. This review reminded me of it.

  2. The year of our Lord 2024 has had some decent to very good horror films, I hope this bodes well for the coming year, then again even if 2025 proves to be a crap year for us horror aficionados there are many many classics or forgotten films getting a release on disc right?

Speaking of Home Media THX for suggesting Mute Witness, a truly superb slice of 90's horror ! These early meta films really were outstanding, and who doesn't love Sir Alec Guiness twirling his mustache ?

    Questions:

1 Last week we discussed Canada doubling for the US of A , but has America ever doubled for Canada or Europe in any movie?
2 Have you ever been to Europe or has Eli Roth's Hostel dissuaded you? 🤣
3 What's the worst Meta horror film you've ever seen?

I hope you enjoyed Black Friday and scored some major deals, take care.

  3. Really enjoying the reviews of new horror flicks. Besides magazines like VideoScope and Rue Morgue there aren't many good resources for which new ones are worth watching. I've added several new titles to my watchlist because of your recommendations. Who knew there was a Street Trash remake? Keep up the good work

  4. I watched Men Of War again years after seeing it for the first time back in the 80s. Most of the actors had done other films that I liked. The first time I noticed Perry Lang was when he appeared in Steven Spielberg's 1941 in which he played opposite Bobby DiCicco. The two actors would soon reunite for The Big Red One. The middle aged guy who hired Dolph Lundgren was played by Kevin Tighe, who was a tv star in the 70s, starring on a show called Emergency. In 1989, he appeared in Road House. Tiny Lister was in a low budget film just before he passed away. The film was called Sunday Rapture. He played himself going into a gym to try to convince a bunch of teenagers to stop playing Basketball and go to church. They just told him to get lost then he says "Have any of you guys ever heard of Tupac Shakkur? We did a movie together called Gang Related. I told him about a real gangsta named Jesus Christ. "
Even though I'm a Christian, I thought that wa8s hilarious. Almost as his No Holds Barred co-star Hulk Hogan tried to admit to being a Christian on Howard Stern's show by saying "I believe that the brother died on the cross for our sins." I cried from laughing so hard. I thought he was going to say that Judas was a Jabroni.
I also finally watched Smile and Smile 2. Even though both films were very surreal, but I liked both films. I liked Smile 2 a little more. For one thing, the dead cat sequence really bothered me. When the Pop singer signed autographs for the obsessed fan with the acne, I thought of Horror cons. But they went back to the Comedy well one time too many. When the signed yellow yellow shirt was on the floor, one would think it was the smiling girl, but the underwear with the skid marks gave away that it was the acne riddled fanboy. I was also looking for Jack Nicholson's son. He played Paul Walker, I mean Paul Hudson. The dead actor boyfriend of Lady Gaga, I mean the star of the film.
I also watched The Devil's Candy last week. I couldn't even recognize Ethan Emery. His hair grew out, he had a nice beard and he looked like he spent a lot of time in the gym. The movie looked like it could have been a Jim Van Bebber film.
One last thing, the world of Exploitation films lost another star. Steve Alaimo, star of such Exploitation films as The Wild Rebels and The Hooked Generation, passed away at the age of 84. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
