The Historic Racing Sports Community (HRSC) is hosting two days of live Longford sim racing action to coincide with the Longford Motorama.
Experienced sim racers from around the world are joining the event via HRSC’s Discord server. It is an open-invitation event, and anyone around the world is welcome to join, though a reasonable, consistent, and respectful level of sim driving ability is required.
The event is run on PC, using the rFactor 2 racing simulator software, featuring the virtual Longford Circuit and a small selection of cars from the 1960s.
The HRSC is an online sim racing league with a focus on simulating older styles of motorsport event that are now difficult or impossible given the closure of circuits, improved performance of vehicles, and modern safety requirements.
The day starts with open practice and hot-lapping sessions, where drivers may join in any of the cars. Less experienced drivers are more than welcome to join these sessions. It is also an opportunity for new drivers to demonstrate they are capable of safely participating in the racing.
Racing will start around 2pm with short sprint races for the Minis and then Cobras. Next is a Mini vs Cobra handicap race, with the Cobras waiting until the Minis near the end of their first lap.
Finally there will be an open-wheel race featuring Formula 3, and the 1966 Formula 1 World Championship winning Brabham BT20.
